Tip for when you run out of scavenged items
Skip to the horizontal line to skip some backstory and venting

I decided to restart for the update. My previous save had 4 scavengable bases, 2 rover vehicles (the big boys) and 1 buggy right near my spawn and a hydrogen vein. I thought this was normal.

NOPE

I'm on day 12, I've combed the entire map for hours, and discovered that I have a singular scavengable base, and the crates absolutely do NOT respawn items. I've went to menu, waited multiple days, restarted the game, no luck. It has 6 structures, not a single one in maybe 5 hours has respawned items. I've scavenged 6 satellites and found 1 broken wire (that's half a wire) and every random box had no luck.

This is a problem, because I'm 1 wire short for a fabricator. I've been 1 wire short for hours.

-----------------
Here's how I unstuck myself on an empty map.

While the crates in my scavenge base were not respawning, a nearby satelite with a crate DID respawn items. I looted, went to main menu, came back, new items.

I relogged/looted 4 times, on the 5th time it had 4 wires. It took less than 5 minutes to do this

TLDR:
Find a crate near a satellite.
Loot.
Quit to menu.
Reload.
Repeat.

Crates on "ruined base" does not respawn anymore, only crates that appear in fixed locations like story abandoned base, near satellites or inside mine.
Also whole deposits in mine & hives respawns everytime start load the game, even with Finite setting turned on.

Infinitely respawning crates were "fixed" in this version so Im not sure that there should be ANY at all (except the mines maybe).

Yield from fallen satellites is very random and low, and once you've made your rounds on the map and got everything, it's easy to just not have enough to progress. Finite essential resources is a bad system. Finite resources is broken even if it was working, if you get to the point where you can't progress.

Not to mention that the new progression system does not let you Prioritize when you know you don't have the resources.. you still have to build all the unlocks first, to get to the stuff you need.

Almost like the salvage yield needs to be higher, or random debris drops need to be a thing.

Points into the recycling skills really helps.

Any extra guns or tools can be broken down for some very useful spare parts. Recycling fuel cells gives the blue batteries but care is needed to prevent the spaceship from getting locked out. Plastic has become very easy by making cloth from fibres then dropping it into the forge to get plastic.

Progression has become a bit more linear than it used to be with certain things being a much higher priority that others to prevent locking progress. Although the recycling does seem to be robust enough that dismantling and recycling materials should be enough to prevent a total restart of a playthrough.
