What level does a geomancer have to be to NOT have all spells repelled?
Am in Tarmitia, both are 14th and darn near everything is getting repelled. The only thing that is effective is meleing with stone blades. For that matter, my 45+ casters have spells repelled half the time. Group spells are becoming worthless. Even with Spell Song.

For some opponents you can need a level in the several hundreds.

Basically at this point you should be figuring out which opponents to magic at 'cause you can't hit them, and which opponents to hit 'cause you can't magic them.

If you kill enough of a particular Foe and you hit [F3], you can see that Foe's stats. For example, a Gremlin has an AC of -29, can hit a party member with an AC above -35, and has a spell save of 70. The game lists the spell save as a "roll," but I believe it corresponds with the level that your character needs to exceed in order to be able to hit that Foe with a spell.

To kaypy's point, a lot of the stats of the characters in Tarmitia and later in Malefia are so high that your strategy is to figure out what they ARE vulnerable to, not to brute force overpower the Foe's stats.

For example, the Vortex in Malefia has a spell save of 255, so...you probably aren't going to hit it with a spell unless you do some serious grinding. A Storm Demon can hit any character with an AC that is above -240. So...good luck dodging its attacks. LUCK is a hidden stat that comes into play when resisting breath attacks or spells, but there are definitely some Foes in the game, like Gremlins, who can overpower your LUCK stat no matter how high you can pump it up with Luck-boosting items, spells, and songs, which makes the Spell Song more useful to decrease the damage from breath/spell attacks than trying to avoid a breath/spell attack by increasing your LUCK. With certain enemies, it's more a strategy game of paper-rock-scissors than casting NUKE at every enemy.

Certainly. So far I've used various combinations for success. Mele March or Seeker's Ballad + Giant Strength has come in handy for just hitting things, especially for my weak rogue. Ogre Str helps her too. The geomancers are just starting to break spell resistance. Up to 24th lvl now.

Thanks for reminding me that the bestiary is important. It's important to experiment and see what spells or items work. If a monster weakness says "holy" use earth dagger.

Having played the Apple IIe version back in the '90s on my Apple IIGS, be thankful you have a beastiary. In the original there was no bestiary, and no World Wide Web to look up monster weaknesses on sites like www.gamefaqs.com. If you were lucky the local software shop would _sell_ a hint book or strategy guide for the game. I'm not sure if one existed for BT3.

I remember. Played the originals in the late 80's up until about '91.
