The other drinks, that is, every other drink at every bar in the trilogy, only serve to refresh the Bard.
The Bard is only supposed to be able to sing/play one song per exp level. There are things that can be equipped that give the Bard unlimited songs, and (in later games, I think) there are items you can carry to refresh the Bard without going back to a tavern. Lacking those, however, the only way to get the Bard to sing more is to get those vocal cords nice and well lubed.
But it helps me learn, and i can always add one to the party right?
And yeah you can swap up the party at any time that you are willing to put in the effort to level up the replacement. (Powerleveling one character with a swarm of summons is much faster than you might expect through- XP from an encounter is divided by the number of PCs in the party)
Great advice, appreciated mate!
So far im NOT enjoying the game. This is the first PC game i played as a 5 year old child that not only got me obsessed with the RPG & fantasy genre, but ive fantasized playing this for 35 years. The game is so empty and boring so far, ive invested 2 days of my life grinding through this. The battles are too easy, and the dungeons are empty and void of loot, and boring af & tedious to navigate through.
Im disappointed, i hope it gets better.
Im at Sewers Level 2 so far.
ZOMG, two days to get to Sewers Lv. 2? That would normally take me...a couple of hours. You are definitely grinding in an incredibly safe manner. No wonder all of the battles are so easy!
The dungeons are largely empty except for a few key squares that are very important. Mapping our each and every square of a dungeon is quite important, so if that is boring to you, you may not enjoy this game. It's largely about exploration, strategic battles (if you don't spend most of your time grinding), and putting together obscure clues to figure out the next step.
Some of the other effects can get hilarious, tho.... I have a female Bard. In drinking the cheapest drink available, it says the women in the tavern are less than impressed. Like another woman would care.....
Very off-topic from the game, but I agree. In my experience at bars, women do make fun of guys who can't drink as much as they do, but I haven't encountered many women who make fun of other women who can't drink as much as they do.
Then again, the original game in the 80's was written by a bunch of dudes (at the time I think the Burger still identified as male?), so that line might have made more sense to them.
