What recommended level for dungeon after catacombs?
what level do you recommend to start dungeon after catacombs? Also, how do I get rid of an NPC character in my group or swap out NPC characters?

To get rid of an NPC, select the number slot they are in, then press K to kick them

I am not sure, but I must have been around level 15 with my paladin for the castle, and I was about 9th with my sorcerers.

I never had a NPC in party, but I suppose the "remove member from party" button in the Guild will work.

nope, I don't get the option to remove an NPC in guild

You cannot swap out (or save) NPC characters -- all you can do is "K"ick them (via opening their character sheet and selecting the option) and replace them.

This is the easiest solution. You will also lose all npc’s when you Remove All characters in the Guild.

In our version, you basically can just move on through the dungeon to the next after you've explored the entirety of each floor. There is no need to stay around grinding outside of Legacy (which isn't here yet), unless you ran constantly from encounters.

If you've explored enough on your own to map out most floors and also get what you are there for, be it hints or items, you're good to move on.

If you used a guide to go straight to the stairs and up, that's a different story and I don't know what the level would be.

*Edit - I'm quite sure there probably is a guide somewhere that tells minimal and optimal levels to move on to each dungeon, being that in the old game you did have to grind (along with our future Legacy mode) - though I did some quick searching and didn't easily find anything so moved on. I bet someone knows where a suggestive list is though :D

From the original Bards Tale 1 Manual:

"Tips from the Underground: Places

1. Your first three dungeons should be the sewers, the
catacombs and the castle (in that order). Each is progressively
tougher. Don't attempt the catacombs without a party of level
9 or higher characters."

It's on page 29.

This is mostly from playing the original repeatedly, but I go to the wine cellar at level 5, catacombs at 9, castle at 12, Kylerean tower at 15, and after that Mangar's tower. I usually beat Mangar around level 22 or so - basically I want my casters to be in their fourth class and I use the bonus XP from winning to finish them up.

I felt like the Castle was on par or easier than Catacombs level 2, 3. Less traps, clearer map, easy phase doors. And actually in my game I did half of Catacombs then did all of Castle and went back to Catacombs. Being able to leave the castle really quickly and heal and recharge made everything go much smoother. And of course, you also get better item drops.

Catacombs is easy in this if you have a Wizard with REDE for the large groups of ghouls and wraiths (and zombies & skeletons -- skeletons are great for gold if you can't afford to buy spell levels).
