What purpose does buying a drink at the Sinister Inn serve?

Does buying drinks at the Sinister Inn ever do anything? Or, is it just to spend some money and enjoy a pint?

You buy drinks for your bard to refresh his songs.
That's about it, except for buying wine.

Your bard can only sing so many songs per level. Once he hits 0 he needs to drink to reset his voice. It’s mostly a low-level annoyance until you find an item which allows unlimited songs like a Bardsword or Lak’s Lyre

Thank you! I had no idea there was a limited number of songs for the bard. Now I see the stat in the character screen. Doh!

personally I love the bardsword. Then I use the Flame/fire horn as his weapon of choice.. All of a sudden you have a buffing/damage AOE monster in the back line.

In the FRONT line :)

You can go 4x Bards 3x Casters and have an AOE death squad.
