Linux please
Obligatory Linux thread. I'm sure it's not a high priority, but please let us know if Linux version (and maybe cross-platform with other OS) is on the calendar at all.

Somewhere you guys talked about putting all your games on the PitPeople Engine, and bringing things to Linux like that. Is that still a thing?

In short, it's too early to say.

Before full development on AHI, we did take some time to overhaul what was once our Pit People Engine. This new Engine has definite differences which may make some parts of porting in general cleaner - though any porting we do will still require the resource of time that we're so often stretching.

As to what platforms might appear after the initial release of Steam/Switch/XBO it's currently uncertain. A simultaneous triple platform release is a heck of an undertaking for a team this size, but we are definitely keeping every other platform in mind. We don't know when we'll have any other platforms announced before/after the unknown release day, but :ranald:

Thanks very much for the response.

Yeah, we're used to waiting, wasn't asking for same-day launch as other platforms, just hoping we'll get it eventually. Please let us know if it moves into serious / likely target.

I think we're still hoping for Linux version of PP and CC. (I only got the idea that CC on Linux even might have a chance because of the discussion of the Engine-formerly-known-as-PPE - in the PP forum, IIRC)

Thanks

Are we ever getting that Pit People port that was teased forever and a half a go?
I'm curious.. why you linux guys and gals don't use windows for games? If you're into games then isn't it the go to OS considering its compatibility?
I'm not saying dump linux but why not duel boot and just use win for games?

You don't need a product key to use win 10 (last I checked). It will have cosmetic limitations but otherwise I think it functions the same.

Because I don't like Windows and don't want to deal with it, simple as that. I don't want to have to dedicate a partition on my drive to it and reboot in and out of it every time I want to play a game. Way better, simpler, faster to just play games on the OS I use for everything else from day-to-day, where I can just start the game up with one click, and then afterwards instantly resume whatever else I was doing (or even alt-tab while playing for that matter).

Fair enough :)

FWIW the beta at least works nicely in Proton Experimental.
Have only tried singleplayer tho as there appears to be no online in the beta.

I think they may have said that they stopped the cross-OS work for their game engine - not sure, though, hadn't thought about this since .. last thread bump, 2 years ago. I would assume we're not getting a native port. Would love to be wrong, but :/

Yea I hate windows for everything other than games. Linux is better in so many way from performance to control over every nuanced aspect of your system. All of that said, Proton works for now. I don't expect every dev to make it a focus(even if it's better) when it's such a small market share and options exist to play already.
