MrKravin gameplay: "No Thanks."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cxQvyMW_Cw

After seeing this gameplay, I honestly can't blame MrKravin: this game seems very unpolished, the acting is really bad, the graphic and animations are so cheap.
I was very curious for this game (expecially after the masterpiece of Resident Evil 2 Remake), but now I have to take it off my whishlist. :-(

Playing through my copy now, and mostly all my sentiments echo his. I too, can get past the cheese of the acting, the below average character models (glad I’m the one wearing a mask) and the story which can’t possibly be taken seriously. Some people may love it for that. I’m from the old days of gaming, so I’m used to it.

My main problem is with the inventory/reloading system, and your ammo stock vs. enemy encounters. While a well-placed shot can end a zombo’s career early, other just-as-well-placed shots aren’t nearly as effective. It’s almost as if each enemy has its own randomly-generated life bar. At first, I thought it kept the tension high, but when it costs precious ammo — and you don’t have enough to kill the bullet sponge of a mini boss as a result — it becomes a design thing. The live inventory management only compounds the problem, especially since your enemy can be just as speedy as you.

Essentially, if you watched Kravin’s video, you’ll know what to expect, and you can prepare for this single moment of the game ahead of time. But this moment is only one example.

Kravin’s video is just like any other out there; we don’t expect you to agree with our thoughts or opinions. Me personally, I’d rather each player decide for themselves, no matter what I, or anyone else, has to say about it. All Kravin did was tell viewers that it wasn’t for him. But he’s not just telling you; he’s showing you, so that you can make up your own mind.

I watched the whole McKravin video. Here is my analysis of it:

- He's right that the faces look rough. But I can live with that.

- He's right that the voice-acting is a bit iffy. But I can live with that too.

- McKravin's best point is that the zombies need to actually bite you, or else they should do no damage when they grab you. Having the zombies grab you and never bite you is a huge, glaring, flagrant, completely unacceptable, game-ruining flaw. They must fix this by adding in biting animations before the game actually ships. Otherwise, that is going be a major deal-breaker that destroys their sales potential and results in extremely low review scores. And the game will deserve it, in the case that they don't fix this before they ship. Fixing the zombies never biting you needs to be the devs only and #1 priority until it's actually been fixed, period.

- Whether or not McKravin has a good point about the mini-boss that kept owning him is unclear, because his video does not clarify whether or not either:

a) you literally cannot beat that mini-boss if you have no ammo

or

b) you can beat that mini-boss with no ammo, but McKravin was just too unskilled and/or lacking in knowledge to be able to do so.

If the reality is a), then that's a game-breaking problem. On the other hand, if the reality is b), then the game is fine in this regard, and McKravin's complaint about that mini-boss is entirely without merit.

So, which is it, a), or b) ...? Someone who knows the answer, please post it in this thread.

- A lot of McKravin's frustration is self-induced because he kept pressing the wrong key. That's his fault, not the game's. Why didn't McKravin just remap his key bindings to how he wanted them? Although if the game doesn't allow re-binding, then that would be unforgivable. But I'm presuming it does, because who would make a PC game with no key re-binding options: that would be simply unthinkable.

- McKravin's complaints about the ammo loading system are a minor nitpick that he blows way out of proportion and makes a mountain out of a molehill.

- Overall, the game looks a lot better than McKravin makes it sound...except for the no-biting zombies point, which McKravin should have complained about more, because that's just absolutely terrible with the way it is now.
Lol, you serious? Game ain't gonna flop just because of one flaw and that being zombies not biting the character when grabbing him.

I really appreciate Mr. Kraven opinion BUT he played the game on hardcore/daymare difficulty level and tried to kill mini-boss by pushing him away....Did you ever see RE to praise you for running around. Some things might be different, some looks not up to date BUT our friends from Invader Studios are fans of 90s and the game is a tribute to the original game. We listen to all the feedback and we are grateful for any comments.

lets give the devs a chance let them finish the Game and then you can decide.

maybe there`s a chance of a Demo that we could play and if not thats ok to :steammocking:

It's actually interesting it's the very same video that made me come here and wishlist it.
I mean the video showcased some issues but honestly none of it put me off. In fact if the video was meant to dissuade people from getting it, it's actually done the reverse since I'm actually quite interested in the game now despite never hearing about it before said video.
Devs want to add dismemberment to zombies! That means we might wait for a bit longer, but I don't care, personally. Dismemberment, lets go

Some people think you can snap your fingers and get a 100% perfect game, from a technical stand point.

They forget where companies like Capcom came from ! It takes time and support from gamers for a company to have the resources to produce EXACTLY what their "vision" is with amazing technical precision.

I can tell by watching what this start up video game company was able to accomplish, that they DO deserve our support.

They deserve to make games. They clearly have passion.

Yeah, CAPCOM have looked their work doing a fanmade remake of 2, they dont simple asked for them stop the remake project, but also invited them to visit Capcom in Tokyo for what i heard and read around on media
Both for a fan and a game maker, i think that must be a dream to come true, and let me say, how much people receive invites like this one?

I cant wait for the game, i already love the atmosphere, and finally a cool indie title about zombies. So keep the great work up.

Cheers, Marcel

This is so funny it hurts, how people completely ignore the orignal concept of zombies due to trash like Left4Bed ruining them and casuals expectations for them, forever.

How classic zombies work:
- they bite you, YOU DIE and eventually become one of them
- there's no "being immune" or other nonsense. YOU GET BITTEN, YOU DIE
- they die when you damage the brain

So you, dear whiners and some silly youtuber are simply ignorant in my opinion.

The dude in this game isn't magically "immune" and protagonist that wouldn't withstand a single hit would be pretty lame, so much like in older Resident Evil games you get to wrestle the enemies - but the more you wrestle, the bigger the "chance" you'll loose next time.

How do you people not get this? It's a simple, decent and actually kind of smart design.

This.

Agreed, grab animation needs a bit of rework, maybe. Maybe it should take more stamina to push them away and once you get out of stam (lets say, already on second attempt) - they will bite your ass. And bite it hard.

Old-ish thread . . . but what does that matter really ?

Those things can be considered a cherry on top

But if the core survival horror experience is good then its pretty much irrelevant

They are definitely fubaring the core by leaving out the ability for zombies actually to bite you from their zombie game.

Doesn't the same kinda go for the RE2 remake ? once you know what you're doing any bite will be very rare, and if you get unlucky, just use a sub weapon and off you go

besides, there's still a few unknowns, maybe only the ' higher ' tier of infected / mutants or whatever will try to bite ? Maybe they'll insta bite on low stamina + low health ?

( lore wise I'd assume that the transformation . . while it makes them dangerous, it doesn't really enhance them like T-virus zombies, so its possible to push them off . . so long as you don't get overwhelmed )
