DAYMARE: 1998 FAQ
Hello survivors and welcome to our FAQ session for Daymare: 1998!
Here you can find answers to the most asked questions.
Did we miss something? Feel free to comment below and we'll do our best to help.

WHAT IS DAYMARE: 1998?
DAYMARE: 1998 is a third-person survival horror with hardcore survival mechanics and hard to kill enemies. It requires a strategical approach to combat and puzzles and offers a multi-character point of view on the story, revealing deep and obscure lore.

WHICH DIFFICULTY SHOULD I CHOOSE?
We, as survival horror fans, recommend playing on "Daymare" difficulty, but it can be too hard for newcomers to the genre. If you are good at managing your resources and inventory, you'll find it challenging but not impossible. For new players or someone who's not familiar with this type of game, the "Beginner" difficulty is a much better choice. Don't feel bad about taking the easy way, we call it "beginner" but it should rather be addressed as "Normal Mode", and "Daymare Mode" as "Hard Mode".

HOW MANY PLAYABLE CHARACTERS ARE THERE IN THE GAME?
There are three different characters that you will play with at different points during the game. The special agent Liev, the helicopter pilot Raven and the forest ranger Samuel.

CAN I SAVE MANUALLY? (AKA SAVE ROOMS)
Yes. The game uses a checkpoint system but there are "special devices" you can find throughout the game, that allow you to save manually into the available 4 slots. No, no ink ribbon required.

WHAT CAN I DO IF I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO GO/WHAT DO TO?
You can always check your main quest by using the "Check Status". (Middle Mouse Button by default)
There is also a tab on your D.I.D., within the MAP tab, that shows you your main objective plus some other useful information. If you feel stuck, try checking it out.

HOW DO I RELOAD IF I DON'T HAVE ANY MAGAZINE?
Even if you don't have any magazines in your inventory, there is always one inside your weapon. You can load ammo directly into the gun same as you would into a magazine.

DO ENEMIES HAVE A WEAK POINT(S)?
Yes. Like most games the head is always a good spot to shoot. Apart from that, some enemies also have a particular place where they are even more vulnerable.

SOME BOSSES ARE TOO HARD TO BEAT.
First of all, be sure to select the difficulty mode suitable for you. Second, remember that just shooting at the enemy is not always the best solution. Check the environment and look for some “support”, meaning useful objects.

SOME PUZZLES ARE HARD TO SOLVE.
Sure. Some puzzles are easier and some are really hard. Always look around for clues, files or info, and remember that the most obvious solution is often the wrong one.

WHY ARE THE MAIN CHARACTERS MOVING SO SLOW?
We have chosen this way of controlling the characters and these animations to limit the player’s in-game abilities and make the experience harder and old school.

WHAT ABOUT KEY BINDING?
The feature has been added in the first patch, together with other improvements and big fixes.

WHY IS THERE NO MULTIPLAYER/COOP?
This is not something we want in a true old-style survival horror story-driven game. Nevertheless, we are working on some interesting stuff to improve and extend the game experience.

IS THERE OR WILL THERE BE SUPPORT FOR ULTRAWIDE MONITORS OR FOV ADJUSTMENTS?
No, these are not present in the game and we're not planning to add them. At least not for the time being.

HOW MUCH DOES THE GAME COST?
You can buy Daymare: 1998 on Steam at the full price of 29.99 EUR/USD. You can also buy the “Daymare: 1998 vs Hatred Bundle” for only 31,48 EUR and the “Daymare: 1998 + Soundtrack Bundle” for 30,58 EUR.

WILL DAYMARE: 1998 COME TO CONSOLES?
We are already working on the game ports for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We cannot wait to share more info and the release date. Stay tuned!

WHO DEVELOPED DAYMARE: 1998?
The game has been developed by Invader Studios, an indie company with less than 10 people, based in Italy.

WHERE CAN I FOLLOW THE GAME FOR UPDATES APART FROM STEAM?

I have tryed many many combinations with the first power puzzle, and still cant find it out. I found no file that gave me a hint on this puzzle. I dont want to look up every solution online.
Are all the puzzles in the full game as hard as the one in the demo?

Not really hard if you check the PC near there.

There are many puzzles in the game but not impossible to solve, you have just to find the right way or clues in the area ;) ;)

People, good work with this game, I enjoyed it a lot. Apparently they may develop a sequel ... I want to contribute some ideas, for example ... That the clips of the weapons do not occupy backpack space, they should have their own section, it would be more realistic. Add some melee weapon to make deaths without the need to spend ammunition (this would mean adding stealth mechanics ... and it is complicated to do so I know). Eliminate the 2 instinct and resistance syringes (at least I have not had to use them) and with this add the possibility of creating ammunition for other weapons by adding gunpowder and empty caps. Possibility of improving or getting a bigger backpack. Add accessories to the weapons (silencer, laser sight, recoil control such as cylinder head or other, look red dot or any other, etc). Anyway, only that wanted to contribute for the moment. Again, congratulations on the good work and keep up the good future with this saga. Clap clap clap clap !! :steamhappy:
