Dragon Queen and still extract cores
Just posting this because I have not heard it mentioned before, so hopefully some will find it helpful.

Like most, when it came time to inevitably start reading build forums for this game, I came across the Dragon Queen meta... it works... too well. My two main issues with Dragon Queen, are:

1. It's so good, it makes creating future builds feel nerfed from the start... so kind of ruins the experience. Others may not mind so much. But...

2. And this is the main problem, everything dies before anyone takes a turn, so it is impossible to extract cores... and this is what monster hunting is about, right?

So, I sacrificed a Pit Wraith Redeemer with my one blood knife, and applied his trait to boots, filling the other slots with speed. I dropped the redeemer from my party, and now I can have my Dragon Queen swap weapons for general killing. I use the "Stricken" boots for bosses, since I can't get their cores anyway, and the rest of the time I'm using a fury swipes / Infernal charge setup with good ol' Ottum. I'm using an Ashmouth Cerburus with a chaos swapped fury strikes, so everyone on my team has access to damage dealing. Also, since my DQ is already so loaded with speed, she's always first, making short work of most battles.

Anyway, this was bugging me till I figured it out... I feel like I have the best of both worlds now.

If you can try to find itherian artifacts there are some traits you can only get on them. There is on call soul eater which extracts a core from a creature when killed.

Burned through my sigils... only like itharian level 10. At this rate I’m way outleveling my itharian mobs... even when adjusting to my weakest creature. But yeah, eventually it will be nice to find some decent loot. Postgame has been kind of a drag tbh so far...

...what is this ultimately OP Dragon Queen thing and how does one obtain it?

I stopped playing this game forever ago, because at the end of the story when you...do what you do at the end, my team of hunters just got demolished, then I did some grinding for a few hours and they got demolished again...so I gave up.

Dragon Queen is only breedable I believe. On my phone, so forgive the lack of a link, but if you google it you should find it without too much trouble.

It doesn’t take much to make this build work. You just need a pit wraith redeemer, or it’s respective trait to apply debuffs at the start of battle, and she will do the rest. You can boost it with speed buffs, as her damage is based on that.

I’ve actually abandoned this build for a while as it’s just boring... if not incredibly effective... I’ve tried to find other early endgame builds that are effective for attack builds, but DQ is all that really seems to come up. The other builds floating around are from players in quadruple digit levels... I’m under 300 still....

I discovered the centaur chaser and am using it as my main atm. Better than Ottum or fiend thrasher so far... I’m considering using the potion and applying the thrashers trait to it, but I don’t have the knife yet. I can’t find anyone else who has done this and have no idea how effective it will be.

But... hey... yolo!

I think half the point of this game is making build fails and still coming back like the addicted masochist you are... the dev strikes me as a bit sadistic.

One thing I hope will be addressed in Siralim Ultimate is this disconnect between encouraging experimentation with team builds on the one hand while actually making the process of experimenting painful (i.e. farming single use knives to yield traits that, once enchanted to an artifact, can't be reclaimed).

You need to increase the loot tables with CJ and talismans in order to find reasonable amounts of the mid-game loot like Knives and Books. Going through it at the base rate is, I fully admit, an exercise in masochism.
