I did find one that fits the bill though. The Lich Priest. It has 23 int as it's highest stat and 11 attack.
It's speed is 22, defence 14 and health 18. So it should definitely come out as +int and -att.
I tell you honestly that by the time people are seriously looking at heredities to max out their teams, it's usually faster to max out your loot settings and farm for eggs with high initial heredities matching what you want than it is to grind them up manually. It's a crapshoot, but also requires no specific effort in and of itself. It just happens along the way.
No, Heart of Darkness doesn't work for priming monsters. I don't know any other specifics about priming because I skipped that mechanic, TBH.
The Lich priest literally can only give +int and -attack, so it's a much better option.
Lich hellcasters however seem to actually have +int -attack. At least, the one I primed with the priests did.
Tainted imlings were another possibility but this one has ended up with +speed and -attack. Not bad for some of my creatures but not what I was looking for.
Orphan was a good shout. Not sure how the game decides which high stat to pick over the other but it seems to pick intelligence more often than not, so the orphan I primed did have +int -atk.
Forest priest and Ancient Grimoire also have +int and -atk.
Can also confirm that heredity affects future heredity gain. So for example a lich priest that would have +int -health, if it already has +4 int and -4 attack it will give another +1 int and -1 attack when primed.
