Im curious- Has anyone roped a cow, sheep, or chicken? And has anyone successfully guided them home to their respective pen? If so, do they reproduce? I mean, if I place a pig pen, did I really spend all those resources just to slay a single pig for 10 meat? lol

Side question, but, has anyone found a use for feathers?

I have rope the sheep many times. The vast majority of them will die pretty fast due to thirst. They only eat (& then fill water bar) if their food drops enough to trigger them eating. But their current thirst rate drops so fast that usually end up dying before can eat.

Have had a few sheep make it many days in the pen. They do wander all time, so I have usually made a corral or pen to keep them contained. Then I usually watch the sheep the first couple times they eat. If they don't eat right off, I will lasso & move them a bit in the pen. Usually they finally eat. Some of the sheep survive & continue wandering & eating every so often. But many have eaten a couple times & still died of thirst.

It doesn't seem to matter if water troughs around at all.

Best to lasso sheep, then stand by with shears to trim. You will often be able to get many shearings from them before they die. One time I got over 100 wool, before it died.

Cows, pigs, & chickens seem currently bugged. I did just today add feed & water troughs, but so far they spawn & then die shortly. I have been able to get meat & hide from cows & pigs. Chickens no eggs yet.

These are old pens that were up before the update. So next option I will try is to change out the pens.

I put new pens up last night, cows and pigs still die on you quickly. I managed to get 20 milk from the cow before slaughter, and the 9 chickens were hell-bent on escape. They did, and were last seen moving northeasterly....

I get a feeling the farming is still a work in progress

I was watching one streamer last night and he roped a sheep and its thirst meter was going down fast, he tried everything to get it to drink but couldn't then he splashed water on it with a bucket and it's thirst level went up to normal and was still doing fine until I stopped watching which was about 10 minutes later give or take. :) His one cow died of thirst within 2 minutes though.

Tonight I wanted to see if they had done anything to the livestock yet. Had shed in a pen ( barbed wire fence and gate which works btw ) so destroyed shed and put in new. Cow spawned and started to die like last time. I used my lasso and pulled it out because the command menu is still missing. I had to run a long way back but finally got it out of the shed. It started walking around and doing lay down animation and it started drinking and eating ( already had troughs down ) But Thirst goes down too fast and they end up emptying the trough kinda fast don't know if they will last 8 hrs. Only got 3 cows to spawn and 1 died when it wandered out of range of the troughs, they ain't too smart. Never got a respawn after the dead one but last I looked I still had 2 with full resource and giving milk. Also they all congregate at the gate and if you open it they try to get out so be careful lol

Hope this helps someone.

My chickens believe they are ducks. They run away straight to the water, swim half the way over the lake and then sink to the bottom.
