Download MSI Afterburner and check the CPU/GPU usage.
Check what programs are you running in the background.
Keep lowering the settings till it's stable and let us know.

There's also a chance that whatever AV you're running doesn't like the game, try adding it to the Whitelist

Try using this "guide" fro Hollow Realization, who knows', maybe it's the same issue:

I've had this issue when I ran the game for the first time, and I learned that SAO:HR does not start with the Computer's Gaming Graphics card.
1) Right click your desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel OR open your NVIDIA Control Panel
2) Left taskbar and click Manage 3D Settings (In the dropdown of 3D Settings)
3) Click Program Settings
4) Select SAO:HR (ProgramFilesx86/Steam/Steamapps/Common/SAOHR.exe)<Dont copy and paste, actually look for the executable file.
5) Select your "High-Performance NVIDIA processor" under option 2 instead of the default "Integrated Graphics"
6) Click Apply at the bottom right.
Good luck and hopefully this helped!

You do know software can be the problem. You almost never have to mess about with the Nvidia control panel unless something is seriously wrong.

I also faced the same problem. I have never played the steam game before. So I thought 15 fps was norml and it was the game problem. But I was wrong.

I tried the following steps.
  1. Go to Your Game Library in the Steam App.
  2. Right-click Sword Art Online: Lost Song and choose Properties.
  3. Select LOCAL FILES Tab.
  4. Click BROWSE LOCAL FILES...
  5. Copy the file path of the file explorer. (eg. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sword Art Online Lost Song)
  6. Right-Click SAOLS.exe and go to Run with Graphics Processor and then Choose Change Default graphics processors....
  7. Click the Add button under 1.Select a program to customize:.
  8. Click Browse....
  9. Paste the file path on the explorer.
  10. Choose SAOLS.exe and Click Open.
  11. Choose High-performance NVIDIA processor Under 2.Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:
  12. Here you can change the details Settings for the game under 3.Specify the settings for this program:. Or change them later after you experience the game play depending on the performance of your graphic card.
  13. Click Apply button. (You may close the NVIDIA Control Panel)
  14. Doubl-click SAOLS.exe from the previous file explorer and play the game.

Note:
  1. From my experience, I needed to open the SAOLS.exe directly under the above-mentioned path for the first time after changing the Graphic Card Settings. Then, I can simply click the shortcut on the desktop or from the Steam App for the next times. (Otherwise, the game does not load at all because of the changes of Graphic Card Settings).

  2. If it opens the gray screen when you launch the game, just close it.

I hope this also solves your problem. (In my case, the game runs smoothly at 60 fps now)

Happy gaming :)

you should mess with the nvidia control pannel it actually helps tweaking the settings in 3d aplications and everything else to make it more optimized i build vr ready pc's trust me the control pannel can help tweak any games fps to your liking wither its a very low end system or a extreamly high end system if you know what your doing the control can actually make "most" games run in 60 fps if your specs are good enough

i tried it but at the end i couldnt even open the game and it keeps syncing when i change it to high performance settings, and only can be open when it is integrated settings

i got this issue today as well, and after some digging, i realised that you need to delete the "OptionConfig.ini" in the installation folder after you switch to "High-Performance NVIDIA processor", then it should run smoothly.

He's just saying your machine is crap basically and if it was actually running at 10fps you genuinely do unfortunately. Your friend's machine wasn't mmuch better if it didn't run much better too. Read the min specs before you buy a game and CHECK yours against the minimum ones. If it's running that badly you clearly didn't do that. The game having issues isn't on their end it's literally your hardware.

Excuse me, I DID CHECK the minimum specs before I BOUGHT it, if my specs doesnt meet the min requirement i wouldnt buy the game... and my specs are higher than the min specs required for the game.. what im SAYING here is i couldnt even get higher fps even if my specs are higher than the min requirement. PLEASE READ THE COMMENT ABOVE YOU to clearly see the problem first sir. If you're commenting like this, it is clearly that u didnt do that at all. :)
