Maybe it is me getting used to their puzzles, I played their previous game which was not long time ago and few of those puzzles seemed to really be dependent on pure randomness. Here however, I have the clues, it requires back tracking. I can only see more reasons why people hate puzzles here later in the game.
The whole point of PC gaming is the freedom it brings to use what you want, play how you want, etc.
That Steam article from last year said 60mil Steam users have a controller connected on their PC. Sure that doesnt mean 60mil Steam users use a controller to game, but obviously millions do or they wouldnt have a controller connected in the first place.
Also sometimes its out of the players hands. I have a back injury that means i am a couch gamer, and have little choice about it. Controlers are perfect for me in that situation.
Another big complaint is the price, not only for this game, but many people seem to be annoyed by price similar to this, I will not get much into that. This is funny when I add people complain about graphics. Both price and graphics can be seen before the purchase. Maybe if pictures on store page were not true to real gameplay, I would not say anything, however it is same and people still have negative opinions about it.
I mentioned in our review the issues with the controller (I'm a console gamer, I don't like using the keyboard so I use my controller in PC games), but advised the developers are still updating the game and it is playable and you can beat the game with the controller (as I did), but it's just not fully worked into the UI yet.
In regards to the price issue, I don't get it. It took me 17 hours to complete, so £30ish is a decent price. I got the bad ending and didn't collect everything, so if you're trying to be a completionist, expect about 10-15 more hours on top of that. The amount shouldn't be based on length though, it should be based on quality, and I thought this game was great. I even loved the voice acting, which some people complained about as they clearly didn't complete the game and find out why Daniel is a ♥♥♥♥ all of the time.
The stealth and enemy mechanics are very far from terrible. At their worst, they're just plain standard.
