It’s under C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Bizarre Creations\Geometry Wars Retro Evolved.
I changed the screen height and screen width there along with setting keepAspectRatio to “true”.
Failing this try deleting config.xml. A new one is created when you load the game. Altering the setting in the help and options menu also seemed to work after the original config was deleted.
Good luck.
I was having this same issue after i built my new PC (windows 10). I went into the game files where it is installed and there was a file there called testapp with the geometry wars ship icon. I double clicked that and it opened the game. Seemed too simple but I am playing it now. Hopefully it works for you too. I created a shortcut for that method on the desktop.
Find the following lines and change them to what you see here:
antiAlias="false"
windowWidth="640"
windowHeight="480"
keepAspectRation="false"
Now launch the game and adjust the resolution if necessary. In my case my window width was set to 1137, which was causing the game to freeze 2 seconds after it launched. Once I did this I was able to fix my resolution and play the game properly. It also doesn't hurt to make a backup of this file before you edit it. Hope this helps someone!
