Guess I'm not on the spectrum after all

I do not recommend the game for how monotone the game can feel at times. There is progression in the form of upgrades paired with new things to sort but it comes packaged with the tedium as well. The challenge in the game comes in the timed orders forcing the player to sort smart and be fast, but you can really only bring an order of requested items to the counter so many times before you get bored. A cool game for about an hour of continuous play but more can feel repetitive and burn you out on the game.

It went from adorable and cute start, to insanity inducing middle… ending sadly on a sour and tedious note.

This is more of a “thumb sideways” kind of review, even if I ultimately file it as negative. Wilmot’s Warehouse is an amazing idea that should fit my personality and taste. Minimalism, organization and feeling of keeping things together tight is my kind of jam. Game promised me an experience that will be like nothing else I played previously, and for the first few hours, game delivered on that.

I was enamored by the game’s simple yet good design and rad aesthetics. Controls felt great and first few upgrades you are given felt like superpowers. Game felt challenging enough without being overbearing. Managing your warehouse went as fun as advertized. I felt like I was in for an great adventure!

However, in mid-game I started to notice the core problem of the game – monotony. You could start to argue – well duh, what did you expect out of warehouse work? I reject such notion. It is a game designer’s task to make a game interesting and fresh for its duration. It seems like there was unfortunately barely any effective effort in spicing thing out during a course of the playthrough.

Wilmot’s Warehouse sticks to its rigid loop of delivery, customer service and organization without anything new or interesting happening in-between. There are no unique orders that come unexpectedly. There are no unique blocks with custom properties to take care off. Difficulty curve is an extremely flat slope with no bumps or slides. Soundtrack and artstyle also grew very stale and they lose their luster after just few hours of play.

After a middle-point my focus went to constant rearrangements of the warehouse, which in pair with the encroaching boredom resulted in me feeling that I was getting insane. Apathy and tedium kicked in, just for the moment of the ending which, despite the generally positive tone of the game, ended up with a major narrative downer out of nowhere that ultimately felt very unsatisfying.

I felt so bad that, after learning that most of the achievements are heavily RNG dependent, I decided to drop it after just one playthrough. It hurts my heart, because I really, really, really wanted to love this game. However, planet alignment was not in favor, so it seems…

Fun little timewaster. Almost like a flash game that's been updated to a modern look. The game is very clean and easy to control, and puzzling over how to best organize is a great part of the game.

But then, comes the actual organising. I'm 2.5 hrs in and it hit me that I really don't want to arrange stuff anymore. It's well done, but not all that fun? Perhaps someone might get more enjoyment out of it than me.

However, I believe strongly that the amount of game doesn't justify the price. I got it at half off sale and it still doesn't seem worth it.

Played it for about an hour and felt repetitive after a while. It could be fun to play coop. But i can't say i recommend it for single player. 6/10

All the excitement of being an amazon warehouse worker, except you don't get paid.

This is probably a great game.

But the developers are knowingly using false advertising to sell their game at the Humble Store. The split screen co-op is one of the game's main features (listed on the store page), but this is not included in the DRM-free version. Humble Bundle responded to me saying:

"I am terribly sorry for the lack of updates to the DRM-free version of this title. Our operations team has been informed previously of this issue and we have been looking into receiving an updated version.

However, I am not sure we will be seeing an update soon."

They gave me a refund but this still bothers me. How many customers have they already scammed? How many of those know about this?

If I buy a game that comes with both a DRM-free version and a steam key, I believe I am entitled to have both versions contain very similar main features.

Please don't support these greedy developers...

Tried to play with two xbox360 controllers on mac and only managed to get it to work one time. Rest of the time we cannot move left or right or some other buggy thing. Very frustrating as the game itself seems lovely.

This game would have been awesome, if not for the fact that it makes no difference whether you try hard or do nothing at all.

There is no penalty for not delivering.
There is no penalty for leaving incoming products where they are, letting them pile up to the roof.
You can complete the game without delivering a single product.

Is it really too much to ask for a game mode where it matters whether I am present at the keyboard or not?

There is no score keeping. So I can't play just to beat my own record either.
