IMPORTANT Question: Horror?
hey guys,

i read through some reviews but cant find a answer. though it is tagged with "psychological horror" nobody seems to comment on this aspect. i need to know if this is somehow a horror game or not. i would actually like to play the game itself because i can imagine it working great as a non-horror game. i really cant stand scary stuff at all and my heart will probably jump through my chest if this gets too scary. any comments ? :)

SigSim is NOT meant to be a horror game, is NOT one and it will NOT become one.
The atmosphere of the game can make you feel really uneasy at times, tho now it is not as intense as it used to be a few major versions back. There are also some 'spooky' elements but there is a high chance that you will not notice them, even tho some of them happen quite frequantly. Most of the Events, however, are one-time things, tho, or require some imput from the player, in some cases a lot of imput, even.
Next to being the only human around the facility, the sound is just done and used nearly perfectly in SigSim which are the reasons behind most of the 'terrifying' feelings you will get and the sole reason why the game is tagged as a 'psychological horror'. Anything else that might be 'spoopy' is added for fun, easter eggs and references only.

If you are not content with the feeling of being isolated while scanning space for ET, hearing weird and unsetteling sounds and seeing an alien or two (or 6) on the way , then I would not suggest getting this game.
If you are fine with those, however, (and will not give up on the controls after 10 minutes but join the discord server for the #faq section and ask about anything you might not understand about the game as well as to ask how to find/avoid aliens  ) I would definitely advise you to go for this title. If you don't count the tutorial, this game is really well made and is still being developed.

Signal Simulator is a paranoid experience, but it does not become a horror game in the sense of being chased by hostile entities and there is no death or other game over mechanic.

It's up to you whether the spooky things that happen constitute jumpscares, but so far as I know, you will never get a loud screaming alien (or anything else) in your face out of nowhere.

Signal Simulator a bit spooky. Mostly though it's grindy, but not in a bad way.

By far, the scariest thing is when you turn off the game and sometime later start thinking on how people search for alien signals in real life. How there are no true alien signals ever to be found, meaning we are either all alone or too far away to be considered for a return signal. Or that extraterrestrials are right this moment in contact with us, and either we are too sense to realize it or that the powers that be are hiding it from us. Or that some of us are really having close encounters whether they want it or not. Or that people are so deranged that they have to make this stuff up to feel valid in today's alienist world. Take your pick, or come up with your own questions. It's all scary enough: a videogame that forces you to think for yourself.
