Figuring out coordinates: Get a rough idea of what the Azimuth is going to be, more or less. Start the dish rotating towards that guesstimate of the Azimuth. Further refine Azimuth value. Start on Elevation. Update the dishes.
On Easy mode, the signal strength meter will update in real-time, as the dishes rotate. On Normal, the meter will only update when the dishes are fully stopped. The meter seems to be good for about 1/2 a degree +/- the signal on both Elevation and Azimuth. The meter also handles Elevation and Azimuth separately. Use this to your best benefit.
On the wall next to the server room door is a panel with 3 switches. You really want to spend some time with this. Bottom switch - Coordinate detection boost, turn on when trying to figure out coordinates. Top switch - Antenna rotation boost, turn on for best rotation speed. Middle switch - Server boost, turn on to boost the download speed and the BOINC progress.
Warning: Turning on one switch steals power from the other systems. Turning on two switches gives a weak boost to those two systems. Turning on all three... does nothing, same as everything off.
Upgrading systems: Azimuth rotation FIRST, as that's going to be the longest wait for pretty much everything in the game. (Outside of playing with the rover, that is)
Keep your System Efficiency (basically the battery) as high as you can. As it dips down, all your systems (except for the lights) take a matching performance hit.
That's some useful stuff right there, Buzzard. Thank you!
