Just static on the VHS monitor.
Hi, all.
When I first started playing this great game I could see a feed from the dish camera on the VHS monitor. I started the game, again, recently and am learning how to do things better and more efficiently. The only thing is... All I receive on the VHS monitor now is green static.
Is there something new I have to do to get a picture. Maybe purchase equipment, or something?
Any help would be... Well, very helpful :)

If you don't have the any videos playing on the VHS, its screen will be showing the camera feed. Since VHS was added, however, the quality of it was greatly reduced. The green static you see there is actually the sky. Lower the antennas in elevation and you will start seeing other objects, like mountines, antennas or other Compound buildings, depending on the azimuth.
Nothing got broken, no upgrades are needed, no fancy riddles to unlock secrets. Everything is working as it was intended to besides the VHS itself but that is in the fix.

Ah, Christ! HAHAHA!
Of course. My dishes are pointing right up at the mo, DUH! :D
Thanks for pointing out the thing that should have been bloody obvious to me. :D
As for the VHS playing movies, I have no problems with that. Well... I didn't last time I tried. I must try it again as I haven't tried since restarting the game.
Thanks for your help, Wolfy. :)

Hmm... Yeah, you are right. The feed picture quality is really poor. Surely this needs to be put back as it was because you can't see a thing as it is now.
Just tried a video on the VHS player and apart from the volume being a little low and the audio ever so slightly out of sync, it seems to work fine, so far.
You mentioned a fix. Are we to look forward to an update soon, then?

Yes, the camera feed is a bit trashy but that's the idea behind it. That's also how it was created originally, I don't know why Blago even upgraded the resolution. Seeing how he went back, we can probably assume this was not intentional and was a bug most likely related either to the VHS being added or connected to some of the rover fixes, as a lot was being done around it at the time as well. I personally prefer it being as it is now, tho now I have to prove to people that those two dark pixels they saw are, indeed, just a normal tree.

The problems with VHS I mentioned are missing support for extensions/codecs and engine errors that were filling up the logs. Both of them were directly related to Unity Engine, as the player being used is the default one it has to offer, and were not possible to fix for the dev, at least from what I understood while talking to him about it. He decided to just make a custom one instead. How or when it will be implemented, or even how much of it is done at the moment, I can't say as I simply don't know. Probably the next major update is when we will see it put to the test but I can't make any promises in Blago's name.

Thanks for all the information.
I'm sure I'll get used to the image quality of the live feed monitor. I think it was just a case of me not knowing that it had been changed from the clean image, which made me think something was awry, or I was doing something wrong, you know like pointing my dishes up in the air, Haha.
I will remember that the two dark pixels are just a tree, if I see them. :D
Actually, as a thought... Couldn't the camera be an upgrade item? The better one you buy the cleaner the image. I can't help thinking that all of the dishes and equipment can be upgraded but we are left with a crappy camera. Just a thought, though.

Oh! One other thing I've noticed is if I go outside in the daytime and look up in the sky, towards the hangers, I can see a silver ball with a flashing light. What the hell is that? It's always there. I'm beginning to wonder if it's the helicopter that never seems to actually go.

Anyway. I absolutely LOVE this game and am looking forward to future updates.
Thanks for your help and info, Wolfy. Been nice talking.
