Steamdeck controls not working

it was working until i went into options in game and now they are permanently messed up. reinstall does not fix it.

I had the same problem today. So... I remapped the keyboard [WASD is your movement. K opens the menu. Enter is your attack button. Space is jump. Aiming your magic is the Arrow keys] keys to buttons and then I started the game. I selected controller settings and then I was allowed to map my buttons. When you're at this stage, switch from keyboard and mouse to the default game pad and start the button mapping. That's how I got it working.
