Hmm..welp, I just killed Miriam. Lol.
If Zangetsu can eventually do a triple slash, or dashing slash (like IntiCreates's Megaman Zero), I'll be more than happy to main Zangetsu throughout the game.
You'l need to save them all and then rescue Zangetsu after he sacs himself in the Veteran Playthrough!
Edited, correction: Someone has already mentioned how to unlock the third mode...
1) Normal mode.
As implied. You can do whatever you want in this game. Kill all your allies, or save all your allies. I personally havent tried the mixed up route (eg save some, kill some).
- Normal mode: Ignoring all your allies, is definitely the hardest part. Zangetsu doesn't get exploration / offense benefits from having friends, nor does he get movement upgrades from killing them either. You cant unlock a new mode from clearing this game this way, but seems like you get an acheivement.
2) Nightmare mode.
To unlock, you have to beaten the game in Normal mode after saving all your allies.
3) Ultimate mode.
To unlock, you have to beaten the game in Normal mode after killing all your allies.
The good point of this mode seems to be, that you already have the movement upgrades for Zangetsu right from the start. And this time, you can save your allies which lets you explore more areas or have more attack variety.
1) Boss rush mode
Unlocks after you unlock Ultimate mode.
2) Veteran mode benefits?
I'm not sure if clearing everything in Veteran mode gets you something. Haven't tried this myself since I'm only on Casual runs so far.
3) Ultimate mode - Saving or killing your allies this time
- Havent tried this yet.
Good to know... Another Runthrough is in order
Did you beat ultima mode already? I want to know if the last level maybe changed like in nightmare mode. I can verify that killing your allies again, doesnt give you new power ups nor does they upgrade anything.
