That Man, Zangetsu Normal vs Ultimate
Heya all. What's the conensus on doing this challenge on Ultimate vs Normal? While I might have slightly tougher bosses on Ultimate, I get the idea the stages are easier with the extra abilities.

While Normal Mode gives easier bosses, I'm dreading trying to do some of these stages without all the extra abilities.

Did on ultimate, having the charge slash helps so much and you can even get a couple of the powerups by using the double jump combined with the dash. A run took about 45 minutes.

I think normal zangetsu only without the abilities is the harder run. You don't get any upgrades and you have to take the longest route in every stage. There are some sections that are nasty without the upgraded slash (stage 4 falling platforms & medusa heads comes to mind). I'd rather take the harder bosses, which shouldn't be a huge problem with all the upgrades you can get in ultimate.

I've heard some people complaining that Achievements can't be acquired on Ultimate Mode. Is that just a bunch of bunk?

It is, indeed, a bunch of bunk. I unlocked several achievements on Ultimate Mode. I find running through with powered up Zangetsu much much easier, even if the boss fights are tougher.

Even then the boss fights are not THAT much tougher, especially in light of all his extra abilities.

Just completed Zangestu only run for "Nightmare's End" and the only parts I died on were the jumping parts due to forgetting I didn't have double jump (blood moon)

Learned some new things doing it on normal, did both though. The stages are the real trouble in either mode, since one hit can usually send you into a pit, so less mobility, harder in difficulty. I find the game more enjoyable in Ultimate though, but the challenge does go down quite a bit.

It’s actually somewhat easier on normal, due to bosses on ultimate dealing slightly more damage, being quicker and taking far longer to kill...

That is until you get to the castle stages, where it gets the point where if you don’t have the gauntlet and armour that things get really difficult.

So overall, ultimate is the better mode to do it on.

You get early access to double jump, which nets you a heart on stage 3.

Other than that there’s the two previously meantioned upgrades and there’s the magic upgrade which can be gotten if you jump from the right and double jump beneath the platform.

Ultimate mode is easier except for 2-3 bosses...
Normal with Veteran is the ultimate experience!

Play the normal playthrough... end the nightmare... Reveal to yourself

I did it on Ultimate Mode. If you use the Exorcism Slip/Ofuda subweapon, you’ll have abilities that can cover any situation.
