A min of 4 players is required for an online Match, this changes to 5 if you are in a Party of 4.
Are you playing in a specific region?
We use latency rules in the matchmaking queues to avoid players with a latency of more than 150ms getting matched.

well we playing from africa, there is no way I can convince my other friends to get the game, because the 2 of us who did get it can't solo queue or queue together, and no matter what we do we can't get lower than 160ms in most cases.. I donno why there is a limit.. currently on https://steamcharts.com/app/837880

the average players are 8 players on steam.. so how are we ever gonna get games

I don't want to sound toxic or anything but I really wanted to enjoy this game with my group which literally can go up to 16 people over a weekend.. but we can't do anything until your private lobby games are sorted

Did you actually check your player.log file for the latency?
You should find it when you type this into the windows search bar:

%userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Happy Volcano\YSAP

And then somewhere in the file that is named "player" you will see all servers and your ping to them. Scroll down a bit.
If you using wifi you also can try to connect your pc with a cable and see if this helps get you better connection.

There are only 8 average Steam players because most people are playing YSAP through XBOX/ PC Gamepass. That's why these numbers doesn't say anything about the actual player base.
