Demo Feedback
You can't leave reviews on demos, but I just wanted to share my two cents about the game after having played and completing the demo during the Steam Game Festival.

It's great! The art style is cohesive, clear, and charming; the music complements the atmosphere and provides additional levity to the already goofy style, and the controls are sharp and tight.

Navigating the overworld between levels is fun and reminiscent of the 3D Super Mario games in how you go about selecting your next set of challenges. Getting from place to place was at times as much fun as some of the levels themselves! They already dabble in it a little during the demo, but I imagine there will be a lot of fun ways to get around between sets of missions. My only complaint with the overworld is that respawn points can be fiddly - sometimes it felt like I would respawn on an island that I hadn't visited in some time, rather than closer to where I was hanging around when I accidentally plunged into the water. Also, the game would often spawn me pointing straight off the edge of a cliff, so I would have to take extra measure to ensure that I wasn't going to throw myself away again immediately by accelerating. Perhaps pointing the player inland by default would alleviate some of that annoyance.

The levels themselves are well thought out and introduce mechanics at a nice pace, and the VIP level at the end does a good job of demonstrating just how zany the developers can get once all of the mechanics start coming together in the late game. The only level that I actively disliked was Hillside 1 (might have the name wrong). The gasoline amount for the car felt juuust a little too short, and the lip on the edge of the far platform caused a ton of headaches watching the car arcing through the air only to fall just an inch short and be effectively useless. It was the only level that I left feeling frustrated rather than satisfied - it could be my relative inexperience with the game but it often felt like the acceleration pads acted unpredictably.

I can't wait to give the level editor a try upon full release! The only other feature that I would really like to see implemented for longevity and replayability would be something like a personal best or par time to beat each level, with ghosts of your fastest performances showing up once a level has been completed. The game is in a great state for an Alpha, and I cannot wait to give the full game a shot when it's released.

Keep it up!

Hi M4A3E8,

thank you for your review. We love getting feedback from the community! Especially if they are this nice :)

We're very happy to read that you enjoy the game this much especially since there are still some kinks we need to iron out. Thanks for pointing them out that is very helpful.

If you haven't already, make sure to wishlist as this helps us tremendously with visibility on launch day and you are always welcome to join the Discord at discord.gg/yousuckatparking

We run an alpha test there and who knows, maybe you can get your hands on the level editor in the near future ;)

I've got some feedback. If we could get a reverse on the level select, that'd be great. Unless it's just not bound on my controller? I'm using a Steam controller. I've gotten myself jammed up on a rock or into a log several times, within, say, 5 minutes. I love the look of the level select, and I hope to see secrets on the map when the full release comes. The way the map is, it makes me want to explore it thoroughly.

I know this was mentioned in another thread, but some optimization would go miles. My computer isn't exactly high-spec, but I wouldn't call it low-spec, either. I turned the quality down to very low and only got about 40 frames a second? I love the aesthetic of the game, it's very pleasing to the eye, but given how simple it is, it stuns me that performance suffers so much.

Hey Citrus Arms,

Thanks for the feedback we just released an update for the demo. Which addresses your points.

We added a warning that you can use R to respawn on the island as well. As putting in a reverse would teach players the wrong thing and possibly frustrate them in the actual levels.

We added some optimization to the grass. It should help in certain cases. But there is more to optimize and this will be an ever going process until release.

Please bear with us the game might look good, but we are barely in the alpha stage :)
