Pixel Game Maker MV

Pixel Game Maker MV

Tactical RPG Maker at some point, since this one can't make that type of game
Just a future suggestion for whenever Pixel Game Maker MV is finally completed. I had the idea to try making a tactical role playing game in the style of Disgaea, Tactics Ogre, and the Final Fantasy Tactics series, but instantly realized ... that's impossible. Granted it does have a top-down perspective, but as it has been stated this software isn't meant for turn-based combat, mainly just action shooter games and the like. So I looked on Steam if there was a game like that, as far as I saw there was nothing save for an SRPG Studio, and before anyone responds to this (if anyone) that IS NOT what I'm going for. That was more Fire Emblem than, say, Disgaea. A Tactical RPG Maker or Tactical Game Maker or whatever you want to call it would have some features such as these:

Character Creator: Much like those of the RPG Maker, but sprites would be facing diagonal directions rather that vertical and horizontal. It would give a variety of choices such as hair, skin, and eye color, clothing etc, anyone here knows what I'm talking about so I don't need to explain this part. But also, there would be two types of actors: Main actors and general actors. Like in RPG Maker when you go and choose the cast of your story, this would be the main actors. These main actors would have specific names and even if they change their class (going over this in the next part) their appearance stays the same. They would also have a chosen race which would determine their class choices (again gonna go over this). General actors, on the other hand, do not have these benefits. They likely would not be used in important story roles, you could have many of one kind as you want, and are simply part of classes and races. (Going over now)

Classes and Races Creators: Unlike RPG Makers, a tactical rpg maker or whatever you'd call it would have actors who are simply there for combat purposes, units who do not play essential roles and are simply that, units. While your main character(s) would fight also, these general actors would be the core part of fights as you would have a large number of them. Classes would require a specific sprite, for example you have a knight class, and you assign to the appearance a character you created wearing armor. Now all the knights you have in your party besides main characters would look like this unit. There would also be two forms of appearances, one for ally and another for enemy, which in most tactical rpgs is simply a different color scheme. For instance, enemy knight would have a red crest while your ally's would be blue. In addition, classes wouldn't be so easily changed. Rather you would have to have units go into battle and learn enough skills to advance, like in the case of Final Fantasy Tactics and (maybe I don't remember) Tactics Ogre. So say you have a knight who's learned two skills, that allows them to change into a new class, the dark knight. Lastly, races. Simply a dividing line between sets of classes. For instance, if you established that there is a human race and an elf race in a game, you could organize them so they have different choices for class. Like human can access knight, archer, and wizard, while elf can access archer, druid, and cleric. (Ok if I lost you in any of this (probably did) you can just look up Final Fantasy Tactics Advance or some game and see how it works)

Map Creator: The ability to create diagonal perspective, three-dimensional maps made up of square tiles, with functions such as raising tiles to create hills or staircases, changing color or design such as dirt, water, grass tiles, etc, and size parameters for the general size of the map. These maps would be used as both battlefields and scene areas.

World Map Creator: (Ok how do I explain this ...) Like in the Final Fantasy Tactics series, the default screen would be the world map, in which there would be bulletpoints scattered across it, with lines tracing these points together. You would click on a point and your character would move to it, and each of these points would have a designated map(s). If you have a trigger that states for example when they go to this place a battle sequence initiates, when they go to that bulletpoint the battle starts and you are taken to the chosen battlefield for that quest. (I realize I am not explaining this very well, you can just look up this stuff if you want a visual look at it) The world map creation would involve a downloaded file that would be the background, the world map, that you would see, and then you would be able to place points with placenames and connect them together on said world map. (Again, not good at explaining this am I ...)

Anyways that's just what I think should be created, love the Pixel Game Maker MV just wished I could make tactical games too, any other fans of rpg maker in general think this should be a thing, and developers could this possibly maybe at some point in the next billion years happen?
