Custom Menus and inventories
Though this is something pretty grand and hard to implement, it would be AMAZING to be able to have a system to make custom interactable menus. This is already technically possible though object actions, but it's a whole lot of work.
Visual custom menu and inventory creator systems are something I've never seen or heard of for game engines, but I think it's totally possible and would help create unique games and systems within them. I think a good example of how this could be executed is SumRndmDde's Super Tools plugin for RPG Maker MV, but with the added functionality to create new windows and such.
Not sure if you'll have the resources to make this possible, but if you do I think it would be amazing!

So you're looking a GUI layer? In game maker it's just a Draw GUI event, or are you looking for more or less what Godot and Unity have?

I'm talking more like the creation of a menu or inventory system itself. Not drawing it relative to the screen view.

Again, it's totally possible to make this, shown by the title screens of Pixel Game Maker MV's sample games, but I'm not sure how I'd go about making a more complicated inventory system or such, like a stackable inventory.

You would use a multidimensional array...

Single-page inventories, like say A Link To the Past, shouldn't be posing much of an issue once
we can get some tutorials (or fans beat us to the punch).

The real issue is that making a complex RPG-style inventory system, like say Symphony of the Night, is extremely difficult without using scripting/a plug-in at this time. So that is currently a major issue for us to resolve, and we will definitely be keeping the community informed as soon as we have a resolution.

The easiest thing would be to just port over some of the rpg maker features over to pixel game maker.

The easiest thing would be to just port over some of the rpg maker features over to pixel game maker.

We are fully aware that the community would benefit from enhancement of these features, so it is an area we are actively pursuing! No dates or anything at this time, as we still have some other more critical areas we are focused on, so if you and the community have any major requests regarding specific UI functionality additions, please let us know!

As someone who wants to use this program exclusively for metroidvanias, as it is advertised it can produce, being able to make custom menus with an amount of depth appropriate for some light RPG elements is crucial to me.
