Elevators? Anyone know how?
I've been trying to figure out a way to make elevators in sidescrolling. I have a door tile that animates from close to open. It is a gimmick tile and I want the player to move in front press up start the animation and fade out so it looks like they went into the door. Then I want the gimmick door tile to play in reverse and close have the camera pan down to the connecting elevator where it opens and the player fades in and the door close behind them.

I have the basic door animation and I know I need the move the player to a back layer with a hidden floor gimmick tile that will move up and down between fixed points when the player steps on. This seems pretty simple to do.

I need help with getting the door to open by pressing up and then playing in reverse and then I'm not sure how to open the connection door.

Can't find any info on how to do this one, anyone have an idea?

Hi! Thanks for your reply, it's nice to see the devs care about their product and clients!

Hey I have almost got it perfected! I didn't use a gimmick tile and instead made the elevator door and lift into objects. The elevator doors open when I press up, my player moves inside, then the doors close and the elevator lift moves down when I go in. I can go back up the same way by pressing up to open the door and repeat up and down. I can hide her behind layers or even do a windowed elevator effect. The only problem I have is making the door open before I switch back to the front layer. I just pop out of the closed door when I get to the bottom. Which I'm am very happy with, I need to adjust the lift size a bit and make an exit animation but I can easily do that after I figure out how to make the door open. I will send the file over if I can't come up with something today.
