Hi all,

We will give the choice to display or not PGMMV's splash screen in the next update!

Thank you to everyone who has given their opinion on this, it has been a real help in the decision.

What splash screen? I've never seen this on games I've deployed from the engine (or at least remember such).

Can you post a picture of what you're referring to?

Hi 乌冬酱! Currently, we have no plans to allow for the removal of the splash screen in games created with Pixel Game Maker MV. We're sorry for the inconvenience this might cause.

I will chime in here and note that I hope this does become part of the plan at some point to make that optionally displayed. RPG Maker has allowed that to be optional, and while it's a bit of an apples ro oranges comparison, this is part of the maker series and the precedent has been kinda set at this point.

Just my thoughts on the matter. For me, I won't be bothered by it, but I can see how some users may be bothered by it. I mean, you have designers ging to great lengths to hide that a game was made by RPG Maker because of such negative stigma revolving that product and the games made with it (not the engine's/Kaodkawa's fault, but I digress).

Hey Abstract the Origin! Thank you for always being so helpful in the forums! :) We certainly understand the issue and appreciate you taking the time to let us know what you think. I will make sure to pass your feedback along to the team! Thank you!

It's the dev's software, get over it, or you can code your own engine instead. Atleast they don't charge you to have a lisence ontop of the software or ask for a share of any profits you make from their software. People complain way to much about small stuff. Sorry to rant.

Wrong!
This software is not FREE like Unreal Engine, if I pay, I will be able to remove the splashscreen.

Just to give a quick opinion, I've been interested in buying PGM for a while, but issues like this are really putting me off, if I pay for an engine, I do not feel I should be forced to advertise the engine every time I release a game, none of the other paid for engines I've used do this (only if you use the free versions they do).

Being paid software this is a big big big no no. I am very disappointed in finding this out. It's kind of a deal breaker, you can't really make a commercially viable end product with this enabled. If the splash logo is forced onto built games in PAID FOR software playism should have to pay for advertising space on commercially released games. I really think this should be top priority to disable the logo.

Agreed, i rather have it show up after the player BEATS my game..
That way they can go "oh wow, this was made with Pixel Game maker? Well i'll be damned!"
Having it before hand will make consumers back away because of the stigma that was mentioned before.
Having it at the end after credits could actually help fight against the stigma.
Either way, RPG Maker MV does not force it, why should Pixel Game Maker MV?
For that matter, there's free engines out there.. more complicated yes, but free.. and they don't force a splash screen.
If you're gonna force that sort of advertisement, i'd like you guys to help fund the development of my game.

I agree that pgmmv should provide at least one method to disable this splash screen.
Some players have negative bias for this kind of game engine, and user should have rights to disable in paid version.

Also I've noticed on built games in the properties of the gamefile exe has "Pixel Game Maker MV" as the description field and cannot be removed. What is even more shady is the gamefile exe copyright feild is filled in with (C) KADOKAWA CORPORATION 2018. Why is this copyright infused into built games? This seems like pixel game maker is getting ready to steal any games that are made with it. This needs to be addressed right away.

Hello everybody,

We have hear your points and the team is discussing internally about removing or not the splash screen. We will let you know once we reach a conclusion.

Thank you, PixCube.

Something to note that RPG Maker MV still has the splash screen available, but it was provided as a separate plugin that you could remove at your leisure.
Really happy I came across this post. I was just about to buy it. It's an engine with promise. But guess I'll stick with construct. Forcing a splash screen on a paid engine is exactly what makes people not take "engines" like this seriously. It contributes to the stigma. It's a shame. After the demo I thought they finally got it right.
