GOG release please
I'm excited for this game, but I'd rather not have it through Epic or Steam, unless I absolutely have to. I heard the Epic version is DRM free, and that's a one-up on Steam in my book.

Still, GOG is my platform of choice. I'd be willing to pay full price there, over 25% off here. I'd also settle for a PC hard copy version of the "Lovely Edition". Otherwise, I'm going to have to go with Itch.

Steam versions are DRM free unless the publisher requests to use steam DRM, it's not on by default

On the store page you'll see that there isn't any extra DRM other than Steam, also EGS is DRM just like steam. I can't launch any game from EGS without EGS.

I play all my games on EGS without the client running. There are several games that were programmed to look for EGS, but those are a small amount of games.

Steam games can do the same, launch without Steam and no DRM by default. It's no different than GOG or anywhere else. Steam as DRM is purely an option and the devs have to actually turn that on to use it. (same with EGS)

The only difference with GOG is the lack of the option for devs.

+1 for GOG

EGS is different in that EGS doesn't have a DRM for the developers to use, the developers have to create their own or purchase a third party DRM, where as on Steam there is a DRM they is free and easy to use which leads to most games using it.

I don't think you understand, EGS and Steam work the same:

Either has the option (at no extra cost to the dev) to require the launcher or not. If it doesn't require the launcher, it has no DRM. If it requires the launcher, then it's the same (basic) DRM for either EGS or Steam at no cost.

DRM services beyond that are third party (or self created) and have to be added beyond what EGS or Steam has built in. (which is only the option of required launcher, or not)

GOG by comparison simply doesn't have the option to add DRM or require a GOG launcher.

That's the thing, EGS has no DRM built in, they have no DRM for the developers to use at all, developers who have DRM on EGS is because they either created their own or they bought a third party, there is no EGS DRM for them to use.

Steam and EGS do not work the same at all. On Steam, developers can use the DRM with in Steamworks page that Valve created, on EGS there is no DRM that Epic created, there is no DRM service by Epic that developers can choose to use.

Steam = allows games with DRM and provides a DRM service
Epic = allows games with DRM but does not provide a DRM service
GOG = does not allow games with DRM and does not provide a DRM service

EGS launcher = DRM if it's marked as required (and some games require it)

That function is the same as Steams free DRM

I would be suprised if most games didn't use Steam DRM. Or else you could download the game, pull out the exe, and refund the game. Can anyone confirm that UGG doesn't use Steam DRM?

In either case, GOG is my preferred platform.

You could just as easily buy the game on GOG, download it and refund it with their money back guarantee policy. Then sell copies of it on eBay.

Either will eventually block you from refunding if you are caught abusing it too often.

Why'd you post this on the steam page, you goof? Just go to the goose game's website and see what other options you've got.
Like, c'mon y'all. Slightest bit of research, please.

Because Steam has a community, sometimes devs read these posts, and it's not on GoG. I know what other options I've got.

The game is also on itch which is 100% DRM Free.

Itch does have a launcher you download and use but like GOG Galaxy, it is completely optional and not required. It just makes it easier to manage your games.

Edit: lol oops didn't notice you did mention itch.

I bought it on itch, but I'm sure it would find its public on GOG as well.
I didn't use any launcher with itch.
