Video #2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_V83KaR2mo
What is your current build in comparison to the two videos?
Video #1 or video #2?
These two videos show a completely different cockpit!?!?
It would be nice to see a new trailer on the store page,( or even youtube to advoid steam issues), if that's not too much to ask from you guy's and or gal's. I think all the people who are really into this game just need a better look.
The older video was taken from a very early build before our major cockpit overhaul.
Hmm, strange, the older video has a cockpit that is largely untextured. We spent a good 3 weeks re-modeling and texturing the cockpit to look nearly identical to a real F18. We're working on some post processing updates which should improve the colors.
It's just easy on the eye's when it's simple. My eye's aren't trying to focus on every small detail (because it's VR not 4k). Not to bring up VTOL and Ultrawings ,but it's soooo easy on the eye's and i'm sure faster in the FPS area. Still looks cool.
I can see it displayed along the bottom on the mirrored desktop window, but not in headset view. Makes it more difficult to judge approach speed and alt for landings. Also not sure if the hook switch works properly. I've hit quite a few landings on deck at (what I judge as an avid flying enthusiast and very proficient at flying simulators in general, as well as flying RC planes, wings, helicopters and quadcopters) seemed like appropriate speed and approach angle, with throttle at 0% yet don't get hooked up to the wire to stop. Have to then quickly respond to do ANOTHER touch and fly. Sometimes takes 5 or so attempts and sometimes it just never hooks up. I have to come in so slow that I can land and then reach down for the brakes switch to stop the plane by itself. With the brakes switch being quite small its not that easy to coordinate while keeping the plane pointing on to the deck.
Others have commented on difficulty with operating switches. I have not experienced this and not the problem here. My switches are all just in the right place when I reach for them and fine to operate, but BRAKE while hoping to get hooked up and if not back on the throttle to bump and fly before running out of deck is very tricky. ;-)
I know it's early access, so hope you can help and my comments are constructive.
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, we're planning to add this in an update...but first we're adding two new game modes
1) A landing mode that grades your aircraft carrier landing based on various criteria
2) An all out skirmish/melee combat mode
Oh, would you mind reviewing the game on Steam for us?
It seems that most people only review the game if they really don't like it, and its hard to get positive feedback.
Thanks for your support
Oh, wanted to add that I love the rolling control stick action. So much easier to operate in VR. Can grab it and then move my arm to chairs armrest and operate from there rather than moving a non existent stick around between your legs which has no limit feedback.
Any suggestions for the landings for now?
Does the hook actually extend when the HOOK switch is in the down position?
Is this a requirement to operate for successful landing at this stage?
Thanks for the feedback...we were thinking of changing the rolling flight stick method because a few people have actually returned the game not understanding how to use it. Hmm, which mission weren't you able to land? Perhaps we have a bug with the arrestor cables on that particular mission. Can you visual see them on the carrier?
Its the mission where you bomb the transporter ship, the mission after you engage with the 747.
Yeah, I cant actually see the cable on the deck in this mission.
BTW, I purchased via Oculus store, not Steam. But cant see any support options in there.
Oh, if you can review it in the Oculus store that's even better, haha...thanks! Really appreciate it.
Hmm, we're going to go back and look at that particular mission to see if there might be a bug with the arrestor cables. I'll get back to you shortly.
You're correct, there's a bug in that particular mission.
We're going to fix it immediately and release an update.
Thanks for catching it and sorry for the inconvenience.
I'll look out for your review in the Oculus store...
Thanks again!
More missions coming soon?
Coming Friday!
