Recent Quest 2 update seems to have broken Direct Show.

For some videos, they don't display properly if Direct Show isn't enabled.

With it off, the videos will play, but I only see part of the image, about half of one side of the image will display without it.

The fix for this used to be to just toggle direct show and the video would display as intended.

Now I just get a black screen when I switch it on since the recent update, using multiple videos that worked just fine before the update using DEO and Direct Show.

Toggling it on and off multiple times doesn't do anything, nor does letting it sit for a bit to "load". It just doesn't work anymore for some reason.

They also play fine with Virtual Desktop or Skybox, so it's not a codec issue. I obviously have the codec I need to display these videos properly since they work fine in other players.

unfortunately you get what you pay for with occulus products, they are cheap for a reason,but good luck i hope you get it fixed.

Probably it's because of the file name. Rename it to something simple like "video.mp4" and try it again.

Direct Show is supposed to be off, unless the video is still using h264 codec.

direct show is still better , ive tried every combination of codecs and splitters, microsoft have gone backwards with their latest lot. 🤔 disable microsofts bits in codec tweak tool, trail n error ,you will get the right one eventually, and dont worry you can reset at any time,fiddling is how you learn,and its fun 😉

Doesn't work.

These exact videos were working just fine before the most recent Oculus update using DEO and the direct show option.

I'm not sure what broke, but something the Oculus update did made the direct show option stop working in DEO VR.

It's the only change in my setup that happened between the videos playing fine with DEO and not working anymore happened.
