where i can download older version of DeoVR ? for example 8.51 ? I have problem with low framerate with the latest v9.02 when i play 6-8K videos .

Actually, I would like to know that too. Half my videos will no longer play since going to 9.x. Deo just crashes out, but everything worked fine with the pre-9.x releases.

Yup, this video player is completely unusable for me now. If there's no way to rollback updates, does anyone have recommendations for more functional VR video players?

Even before the latest update i decided to check, and noticed that GPU utilization was unreasonably high. Not only was it high when watching videos (but not too different from other programs) but strangely, it went up to over 90% when I was in the menu. Higher than when watching videos. And if I opened the steam VR overlay the usage when down very low. To be fair, i had not actually checked before, so i don't know if it was always like that, But seeing that my GPU temperature went up to over 80 degrees, I just felt uneasy using DEO vr. I was hoping that the lastest update would fix it, but there is no difference. Just to reiterate, it uses more resources in the menus than when playing videos. I just think that is very strange.

can confirm this works. you should run offline mode to prevent it from updating itself, but if it does update you can just re-copy the depotdownloader 8.55 files to the DeoVR folder again.

Can you please do me a favor and upload the files publicly for me (and others) to download? I followed the instruction, but had a problem with my steam password having a character that depotdownloader didn't like so can't download the older version and I'm too lazy to change my Steam password.

i downloaded deovr v8.5.5 via DepotDownloader, replace deovr video player folder content with files from this zip file. if steam updates the deovr, replace the files again.

Since you having problems with the depotdownloader maybe this can help you.

If you want to rollback to the version with the old GUI you can do the following:
Open SteamConsole, if not present run the command below via WIN+R to do so.
steam://open/console
then just run the following command to get the old version in a different directory
download_depot 837380 837381 1272271452981983245

When it is finished it presents you the location on your disk where you can find it.
Keep it there or move it somewhere else. It will never get updated again.
