I tried both your suggested players (had just a quick look at them) and, for now, i think that HereSphere is the most promising one... but... sad to say... the old versions of DeoVR are still better than both.
Anyway, thanks for your reply. At least it's something enjoiable... ;)
If you see a vid that garbles into mosaic compression, then choose direct show and it should play normal speed.
Gizmo crashes on me, it's unusable and never updated or fixed.
It's not a codecs problem. I haven't installed any codec since the middle of the DivX era (VLC Player is the way) and yet the previous versions of DeoVR worked perfectly.
Pro tip to everyone: Do not use any codecs packs if you don't know very well what you are doing and you are sure that you really need it. Otherwise you risk to do a very big mess.
Unfortunately the problem with the latest v.9xx of DeoVR is not into k-light codecs . I tried already to reinstall the newest version same as Windows HEVC codec but this didnt help.
DeoVR v9.03 play 8K vids with 25-35 fps that v8.55 plays over 90fps on the same PC .
I have both version installed so i can tell you this for 100% sure ! ;)
After a better look, i think that HereSphere is really awesome! Many thanks for your suggestion! ;)
Done! ;)
Edit: HereSphere devs are asking if you get some specific error message when it crashes.
Youtube crashes like that on Firefox browser as well so it might be the web xr or web vr standard they use.
The HS dev replied. I think it's more easy if i give you the link to the HS discussion:

I have the RTX3070, works grt with OpenXR but not WebVR
Something I noticed that might help you and others:
if url browsing in any player you run into streaming issues with interruptions (that throbber, loading circle icon from hell) then try Windows Edge browser to view those sites, as when there is slow speeds (like day time traffic hours tethering phone data) the stream will be smoother and just pause the screen, instead of interrupt every few seconds with the loading icon.
