fix your pc disk errors first,
in steamvr settings, turn off home background.
Enter deovr player on your PC desktop icon not in vr desktop, make sure your windows mixed reality for steam app still exists, you might need to reinstall that.
SOMETIMES the player is on the side or rear not center, so you have to turn around and look for the player to recenter it. Don't rely on your vr headset deasktop to enter steam vr settings, take off the headset and use your pc mouse.
I have same problem
When I start the video - a gray screen on the helmet But everything works fine on the computer
https://ibb.co/hdDx2x4 - computer
I suspect it is WMR, Just literally 2 months ago everything worked fine
Can you tell how you fixed it?
If launching from library doesn't work then turn off hardware acceleration in
codec tweek tools -direct show filter- lav video decoder
But the picture remains in the form of a gray screen, and you can get out of it only by closing the application on the computer itself.
As if after the patch at some point the device stopped detecting the active window
Launching from library or desktop doesn't change anything
If you always keep it on then:
Check any error messages on your mixed reality portal window, it should show the home space or waiting animation (circling balls) otherwise it will tell you an error message.
other possibilities:
I had a similar glitch with my g2 recently, but when I tried my other controller the glitch did not exist.
Maybe just maybe the secondary (or main)controller is being affected by the update or needs to be re-established/sync.
If that doesn't work then try checking the wire didn't come slightly out and is fully connected to your headset and untangled and switch usb ports to your input in the computer.
Make sure you have Windows mixed reality for steam vr loaded in your steam library, either your windows mixed reality portal home or that steamvr Mixed reality home should be showing,
Another possibility: Sometimes with the player the loading is in the rear or side and not in the front, always load the player with your headset pointing in front centered, you might see gray or black in front but look 360 and see if you just need recentering of the player.
Literally has no effect
for any discrepancy between the USB ports or errors in the application, the helmet would not work, and not a specific application
I tried another video viewer app and it show Grey Screen to
Apparently WMR is in conflict with SteamVR
I will try today "stop vr sign" I guess WMR requires launching through an additional launcher without recognizing the video application as active
Are you missing your open xr app in microsoft app store?
*update
Just thought of something, could it be your boundries need to be reset, perhaps your gray screen is you being out of set boundries?
me too
I dont now why, but the gray screen passed after install Stop Sign VR
Possibly there is a conflict between the sticks and the helmet. mb Video Player cannot determine where the user is due to the not particularly common relationship between them
