This isn't a problem with video players or files. If our files were corrupt, then every one would have this problem.
It is most likely your CPU that can't handle the load due to an h264 encoded video in high resolution. 4K is usually max you can handle with h264 encoded videos. h265 encoded videos can be decoded with the help of a modern GPU like nVidia 10xx, 16xx or 20xx. AMD works too, but I don't know model numbers for those that support h265 decoding. You need to install Microsoft HEVC File Extensions available through the Microsoft App Store in Windows for that to work.
Use a simple tool like MediaInfo if you want to get info about how your videos are encoded. You can use a tool like HandBrake to re-encode your h264 videos if there is no h265 version available.
