Do you perhaps have this installed on your computer if you have Windows10 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/hevc-video-extensions-from-device-manufacturer/9n4wgh0z6vhq ?

I have a similar problem playing 5k HEVC (h.265) files in deovr on my rift – in that they are stuttering. I can play them fine on desktop (i5 6600k) using microsoft films & tv app (although not in VLC).

I have installed K-Lite codec pack, "HEVC Video Extensions from Device Manufacturer", set LAV hardware decoder to DXVA2 (copy-back) and then to my GPU (RX 480), and set deovr to use “directshow”. (Also have latest windows 10 updates, latest drivers for CPU and GPU)

Any help greatly appreciated...

I think the recent updates broke this. I was fine till i got the microcode updates via win update this month. I did system restore to an older snaptshot and that fixed it again however it then reinstalled the update so not really a fix. im holding out for 1809 to fix this when it is rereleased

What if you try to play video without directshow? What happens then?

Is this a problem for all the 5k videos? Were you able to play 5k videos before?

You should try playing without directshow as well and let me know the results.

We are talking about local videos right?
