The escape menu has access to some commands like "ride", but no way to call up the prompt.
Could you give some examples of the "awkwardly located" keys on AZERTY? Are you expecting them to be handled as if you were using a QWERTY layout?
A slightly bigger problem is not having some commands at all ; ride, annotate level and maybe tip over are the only ones I really miss (= all combinations with alt AND shift or ctrl).
Being able to get to the command prompt with 1 key without autocomplete on would solve everything though... If you could give # an alternative key that's free on azerty that would be nice?
I see we can also use k to kick again and l to loot etc so I really have no other issues.
Cheers and o yeah Nethack is ment to be played in ASCII and it's nice to finally have it on fullscreen so thx
Also, you can tweak the mappings if some keys are inconvenient to access on your layout. For example, if you want to make the extended command available on the double quote key and ride on the single quote key, you can put the following in your nethackrc. There is no in-game option to create these bindings currently.
The manual has more information on how to setup these bindings. That said, there seems to be a bug with AZERTY layouts that needs to be addressed.
You're absolutely right, I will eventually rebind some keys, still thinking on the placement though.
Good luck with the bug, getting alt # to work would already solve a lot.
