Game refuses to launch with an error message of "DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument."
I have DirectX 12, but it's not launching the game properly no matter what I do.
I realize that I do have an integrated graphics card, but after some reading, I've found that such a lack of support for them tends to result not in an inability to run the game, but in a worsened experience. I legitimately do not care about having a worsened experience, I just want to play the game for fun, not because its graphics are great.
My logs are below.

Hey - try updating your drivers manually if you haven't already. Someone else posted and that solved their problem - Windows wasn't detecting that there was an update available, you have to either check yourself or use Geforce Experience.

I tried updating the driver just a couple of minutes ago, and the driver itself seems to be working fine, but the game still doesn't run.

Here's another pastebin for the log after I updated all drivers I could.

So the first error appears to come when it finds my current drivers incompatible with the Intel Extensions Framework. However, it doesn't quit then, but instead tries to check if my devices/adapters are compatible with SM6, but it says I only have SM5 compatibility. My question now is: does SM mean 'shader model?' Shader model 6 is compatible with WDDM driver models 2 and higher, and I have WDDM 3.1, as well as shader model 6.5 compatibility. So then, is the issue with the lack of compatibility with the Intel Extensions Framework?

i have the same exact issue as you, and i have the same GPU (Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics). sadly, it seems like it's not supported as they said in the system requirements: "Intel integrated GPUs are not supported"

sorry :(

Can I ask you to clarify what SM5 and SM6 are, at least? The only reference to anything of the SMx format (x being any number) outside of these logs are a reference to SM 3.0 on Wikipedia's page about Direct3D feature levels, and that's abbreviated from Shader Model. So I have no idea what it's referring to.
Also, what, specifically, is so wrong with integrated graphics cards anyway?

I don't care if the performance is poor, but it doesn't even bother to check if the drivers would be compatible, just relying on the graphics card. Is that really enough to go on to guarantee that it wouldn't run?

Turns out my older computer actually has a Radeon integrated card, so it can run the game without too much trouble. I guess my issue has been solved.

(from PcGamingWiki)"DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument." error when starting the game •
The message itself is misleading. It actually means that system does not meet required hardware and/or software level. There is no point in adding or removing such command line arguments.
  • Update Windows 10 and videocard drivers, check system requirements
Use the Update Assistant to upgrade Windows 10 to the latest version if it's earlier than 21H2. Windows 11 does not require any action.
  • Update videocard driver to a version from year 2023 or later. If there is no such driver then videocard is below system requirements.
  • Check system requirements. Integrated graphics is not supported. Old CPUs like AMD Phenom II do not work

Really a weird wording for incompatibility.
