You grab a connector. Hook it up to BOTH receivers and the red emitter. The purple gate has two statues flanking it, one on either side. Place the connector by the statue on the red side.
Next, grab the other connector. Again, hook it up to both receivers, but this one gets connected to the blue emitter. Now place it between the blue receiver and the rail. If both connectors are placed at least somewhat close to where they need to be, only one of the two receivers will be powered, and the movement of the pillar will periodically change which of the two is powered.
And that is it. The blue gates will open for you.
The name of the puzzle is a hint. Hysteresis means that a system's current state depends on past states. For example, agar (used in some desserts) in water melts at about ninety degrees, but it solidifies at around forty degrees. When the agar-water mixture is between these temperatures, the agar maintains its previous state. In other words, you can have solid and liquid agar under the same conditions, thanks to hysteresis.
Thanks! Now I see why my attempts to set up the same didn't work.
I was positioning the connectors on the opposite side of the rail to their intended emitter.
Thanks Nova. I am basically legally blind, and the font size on Steam is tiny even for normal-sighted people.
This gives you ~7 seconds to pass through the first gate and then plenty of time for the second.
Oh i did the "uninteded" solution too. Brainrot from forgetting how lasers works
I haven't played the base game since January-ish. I think maybe I've finally forgotten the puzzles (which is a good thing, for when I come back for my 30th or so playthrough.)
