Isle of the Blessed, Red Island, Sphinx puzzle

I have solved all puzzles of Isle of the Blessed, but this puzzle is really haunting me. I know where the buttons are in main puzzle #5, but I have no idea how to get there. I have looked for hints and after that for possible solutions, but nothing seemed to work for me. Can anyone give me some proper hints to get to the buttons?

From the entrance of puzzle #5, walk to the gravity surface at the back.
Jump onto the gravity surface and walk upwards towards the sky.
Pick up the hexahedron.
Stop just before the end of the gravity surface, with the gravity surface that leads towards the red laser emitter to your right.
Drop the hexahedron at the edge.
Jump onto the hexahedron, then walk forwards (to the sky) and jump onto the floor above.
You should land right side up and be able to walk up to the buttons.

Success! But, it took me about half an hour to get the hexahedron at the right spot. The hexahedron kept being pushed back, or Yakut kept falling to ground level.

No need using the hexahedron -- just run up the magnetic wall and at the end of it, just jump slightly to the right -- you will land at the right spot.

I have tried that several times without success and landed on ground level every time. By placing the hexahedron at the right spot at least for me the jump to the right was a bit easier. After that I solved the large hexahedron and the gold puzzles. Now "Into the Abyss".
