In TTP1 it was indeed necessary to take out items out of the puzzles to get stars and trigger secrets, but in TTP2 (Main-Game and DLC) this concept is not applied.
Funny you had to kind of solve it twice to get the 'story'
I liked that a lot about TTP1
Escpecially all the stars, which are not great in TTP2
For the stars in part 2 "Isle of the Blessed" I used a lot of connectors from the megastructure as well.
Eventually I saw that I did not need them.
