Look in the vicinity of puzzle #4
I've had the same frustration with Pandora's puzzle in South 3 (with huge tower in the broad circle-shaped pit). I could've got the hint if laser relays on tower were at least somewhat visible and not so high above. They can be spotted only if you raise your head very high and from a certain side of the tower.
Absurd. I have a strong feeling Pandora's puzzles haven't gone thru enough play tests.
I even tried this IN EVERY PUZZLE before coming here but it looks like I overlooked it:
I tried to climb out of the puzzle #3 like a goat ...
And since I flatly refuse to keep looking through such a large world full of details... This star have been the one and only "puzzle" I have had to look for outside the game. The only thing that I was afraid to ruin my experience finally have confirmed my fears.
I found the driller, but nowhere to use it. I wandered around the entire map and gave up thinking something with the gold puzzle might be it, same with the Sprite. Now that I've got that unlocked, I know that's not the case.
Hint for anyone/everyone reading: Gold Puzzles to not prevent you from solving ANY of the statues. Some of the standard puzzles might, but you can complete everything but the gold puzzle on your first visit to the area if you're determined enough.
Ironically I also stumbled across the S3 laser pad accidentally just from looking for absurd things after the first few I found. My issue wasn't getting it or lighting up the connector, it was finding how to get it to the actual statue that took me a good bit.
I actually managed to hit the pad from 3 different vantage points across 4 different puzzles (#1 is broken though as it clips through the roof). I stole everything from #8 and used them at #5, then of course did it the correct/expected way at #3 (IIRC).
Personally I disagree. Some of the methods required you to check EVERYWHERE. Literally, EVERYWHERE. You can't trust any walls/corners, and there wasn't even a hint you might be in proximity of one. I love these games, but I can't waste hours upon hours running across every wall/corner to see if "maybe something is over here". I get it's a bit of a treasure hunt, but I'm in it for the puzzle, not the endless grind with near zero clue outside of "there's one on this map". I found maybe half on my own and looked up the rest.
The compass on here has greatly helped mitigate this, allowing users to disable if they truly wish to waste hours of their life running forever to find something, but also pushing most players in a general direction. It still leaves a lot to wonder about for some of them. I think it's a good balance.
EDIT:
I ended up searching for the wall on W2. I could not find it, and when I came across it, I was rather annoyed at its location. The drill portion stood out for me as the random blue light wall was obvious, but a copper/bronze wall in this map on the complete other side was very irritating. It could've been a little closer.
