Weird ghosting of human faces
When the "humans" you are talking with move their face, sometimes I see what I can only describe as ghosting. Is this intentional or is this some graphical bug?

If you have Global Illumination set to high or ultra, raytracing will be enabled and with the implementation that this game/engine uses it will result in ghosting. Most noticable in darker areas.

Sucks that the highest setting results in the worse picture quality.

Well, the *picture* quality won't be so bad. Just don't move around ;)
The raytraced lighting is nice when it works, but it has problems.

That's the thing. I don't move around. I just initiate dialogue and their head and neck start phase shifting. It's really jarring. Although for some reason it seems to be mostly limited to the city, don't notice it on the island.

Do we know if Hardware Lumen is enabled or is it all Software?

I'd say it's bug. You should see it on PS5, the ghosting is terrible on PS5 -- it affects the entire 1K model whenever it or the camera turns.

They confirmed in another thread its all software, as hardware requires a lot more work than just turning on.

Its frustrating as software Lumen doesn't fix light leaking through objects, which is a big reason I like raytracing.

At max settings I've only seen it whilst talking to people at the front of museum
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I'm pretty sure I saw it in some other places in the New Jerusalem, but I've yet to notice anything like that in island locations.

It doesn't matter if you move or the thing moves. Birds will ghost as well, for example.

Agreed. I have seen it. And I have seen the ghosting birds too. I haven't experimented with settings to find out what is responsible.

Bird ghosting is not the same as face ghosting in this case. Ghosting of faces is much more serious and heavier to fix, actually. :(

For me this was really bad in the demo and right after release - during a dialogue the head and chest energy things (their RGB?) would look almost disconnected and lagging their head/body movement. But I noticed it was suddenly fixed and figured it must have been addressed in a hotfix. Doesn't happen at all now.
