I've started playing the first level of the demo on Steam Deck. Works ok, default controls are good, but it runs just about 40 fps on low.
Proton Experimental is required, otherwise it will crash.

We'll try to make it run fine, yes.

Thanks for replies, i just tried the demo, it runs okay, but the artstyle is so gorgeous i want to experience it in best possible quality, so i pre-ordered the xbox version. My first pre-order since Elden Ring, this is going to be game of the year easily :)

Is support for full simultaneous input planed? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2804823261

At now, there is some simultaneous input possible (analog stick plus trackpad as mouse), but it causes constant flicker of controller/mouse glyphs. Also it is impossible to solve sigil puzzles that way.

I've completed the demo a couple of times on the Steam Deck now, I'm pretty impressed with the performance. 40-60 fps depending on location, using TSR with Performance mode, everything on low. It all looks amazing. Around 2 hours of battery life, which is plenty for me. And it performs about the same when at 1080p docked to my TV (I guess because the TSR upscaling means it might be rendering the same thing internally anyway). Anyway, yes, I was a little worried that the deck wouldn't be able to handle this, as I loved playing through the first on mine, it's a great handheld game, but no problems at all.

so, afrer 2 hours of settings, yep, it works ok
but you should choose XeSS instead of FSR, it sucks on UE5 as I understand

What help is for fixing flickers while moving camera is to use XeSS.

For flicking while moving shadows use
Lighting to high to fix the shadowing bug, but it reduce a lot of fps.
Maybe this can be fixed via ue config files ( set all shadow from low to 0 ) as usual in unreal engine games
Or from dev site ;)

From guide little change

Video Mode: Fullscreen
Resolution: Choose the highest your screen can show or whatever you like
V Sync: off
Frame Rate Limit: 30
Quality: Pick 'Custom
Upsampling: XeSS
Upsampling Quality: balanced
Lighting: 'High' for quality flicking fix or use low ( shadow flicking while moving)
Shadows: low
How Far You Can See: Set to medium
Texture Quality: Set to high
Special Effects: Set to low
Reflections: Set to low
Post-Processing: Set to low

I used the default "low" settings on my deck and it worked fine, with a battery life of about 2 hrs. My only issue is that the iron fence asset would sometimes not render until I was close, so I would try to connect a connector to a light source or receiver from far away and it would be blocked without me realizing it.

The raytracing causes you to see through level geometry. I find it's a lot more coherent if you turn the draw distance all the way down but then you get some really near geometry pop-ins. Still, better than nothing. I was impressed with the performance results otherwise.
