Anyone seen error code 2002 and system load error 501 before?

My computer unexpectedly powered down (not sure if it was a very short outage, something to do with La-Mulana 2, or just something else wrong with my machine) whilst I was playing La-Mulana 2, and now I'm confronted with boxes declaring error code 2002 and system load error 501 when I try to start the game up and it's still on the loading screen prior to displaying the opening. No music plays and I'm stuck with Japanese text, which is less than ideal forme.
Fortunately I still have my save files, but I can't really play the game in this state.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the game didn't fix language or sound; does anyone have any ideas?

Well, I fixed it by renaming the folder under AppData/LocalLow/NIGORO and reinstalling it, so it would generate the system data again, but I've lost all my found outfits. I guess something was constantly saving to there and got corrupted, or something odd like that. I still have the keys so I can re-find the outfits, at least.
