Hard Mode
Pretty sure I've just permanently ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up my game by activating hard mode. Is there any way to revert this because I'm kinda bummed out, been playing two hours and now I feel like I have to restart. Was just getting into it as well :(

You're at the beginning of the game. Just restart. It will be done quick. And yes, you got plenty of warning.

well I didnt notice it, I just kept on running around looking for ways forward. Look I only wanted to find out if there was a way to reverse it, if not I'll just have to start a new game, but its still ♥♥♥♥♥♥ design to make it undoable
That's the point of a hard mode, it wouldn't be much of a hard mode if you could just turn it off like a faucet because you can't handle it.
i mean while the game does give you more than enough warnings you're still pretty retarded if you actually think this

I take it you never played the first game? It's exactly the same and your own fault for assuming this game would let you reverse it. That's not ♥♥♥♥♥♥ design at all, it warned you plenty and doesn't have to conform to preconceived notions you have about difficulty. Tons of games have ways to permanently increase the difficulty that can't be undone.

That said, whoever said "dur hard mode means you don't get to change difficulty ever" is stupid af. None of these rules are set in stone.

As a general rule in this game: take warnings seriously.

Some messages earlier seem to imply you need to read the tablet twice to get the cheevo, but I got the cheevo on reading the tablet only once.

Which now has me kinda confused if I triggered hard mode or not, but I'll refrain from reading the tablet again just in case. :p

Yeah I felt the same way, but if you look through achievments you'll see there's one for activating hard mode, and one for reading the tablet. The old man also sends you an email that says you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥ if you read it just once too, but I don't think anything will happen.

There's an NPC I believe in Annfw or however it's spelled that can remove "a curse from the Mother", I take it she can turn off Hard Mode? Don't know, didn't try but it sure sounds like it. Don't know if that particular dialogue triggers before you kill some guardians and the ankh in there is activated.

What is the difference in hard mode, bosses have more hp more monsters?

Monsters deal more damage, have more HP and there are more of them in the levels, as far as I know. I think it doesn't affect patterns and such.

As eusine2 said, there's an NPC in Annwfn that can turn off Hard Mode for you. It is a girl. Talk to her multiple times so that option shows up.

Annwfn is like the 2nd or 3rd area of the game, depending how you play it. It's an option. Another is to just restard, since you're very close to the beginning of the game.

Ratatoskr's AI appears to be entirely deterministic based on where he is and where you are. If you find the right place you can often make him just try to charge you over and over again while you stand on a ledge in front of him, safe and in perfect whipping position.

As a side note, there is actually someone who can remove "Mother's Curse." Only once though. And I'm about 90% sure "Mother's Curse" is hardmode.

I'm not quite sure why the guy is being chewed out for pointing something that's obvious: The hard mode is there for a challenge. If you could turn it on and off at a whim whenever you wanted, it's not a challenge, at that point it becomes less than even a difficulty level in most games.

As for the OP: You had more than plenty of warnings from all in-game outlets and one outside the game. The only game i can think of where warnings such as this don't mean anything at all would be Fallen London, but that's about it.

See, read this back and think really hard about if what you said makes any sense.

It's his fault for not playing the first game? it's his own fault for thinking "those who do not head these warning will sudder pain of DEATH" mean this will change the difficulty to hard mode.

And these tons of game give you the option to choose the difficulty in the beggining of the game, not in the midle of your first dungeon.
