Apparently it was an unused track in the original and remake too. But why make the song 3 times unless it has some signifigance. Maybe there is a clue in the older games that might help us now?
I mean, it would be strange if they somehow baked a Hell Temple into the game when we already have Spiral Hell, right? I'd absolutely love a fiendishly difficult and cryptic area as DLC though.. maybe even make it incredibly hard to find, almost like in the original.
Yup: $266,670 out of $300,000 for Evil Stages (including Hell Temple)... but they didn't include backers that contributed directly from Playism into this sum, and the point that Hell Temple was added latter to the PC remake (and Wii version) pretty much just because Naramura felt like it, so there's still hope.
Also, someone has commented (in another discussion) that the last costume (which cannot be currently obtained in-game) is supposed to be a fish costume and was present on the later alphas (I didn't mess around with console commands on these, so I can't confirm for sure); maybe that makes an appearance down the line.
Another tidbit from the stretch goals: the save screen shows the eyes and name of Lumisa at the top-right corner, as there was a goal to add certain other characters as playable (Are "Character Switch" and "Character Stories" ). Yes, Mulbruk was supposed to be playable, maybe even in a Megaman X3 style.
That would be nice, right now she pretty useless, and most of the time only give hints about things I already did. they really need to fix those triggers.
I could take or leave another Hell Temple. The first Hell Temple was 100% a joke on the player for wasting their time trying to solve it. It wasn't fun. I don't want to deal with anything like that again.
I got into La-Mulana with the remake, but I actually went back and played the original MSX-style version afterwards. I quite like it, and I'm glad I did, although it seems like most people didn't, and I can understand that, as the remake is much more polished. I can understand not wanting to have to select Antarctic Adventure and Comic Bakery from your ROM list every single time you want to warp to the backside; it's a real pain, for sure.
Anyway, I suffered through the remake Hell Temple, but I saw no need to suffer through the original Hell Temple. Once is enough.
Also, data mining ruined our fun again. Apparently the game was decompiled and they found maps for the Spring in the Sky (which is the BIGGEST unsolved mystery) but nothing Hell Temple related.
Spring in the Sky is something I was waiting to reach the whole game; it's my favorite area, with the best song, in LM1. The map shows a pink edge there... and in the end it was never given. I wonder if the Bronze Mirror was originally there, and as the deadline approached they were forced to cut the SitS and move it elsewhere.
(Saving and reloading fixed it. But I had it happen a second time, so doing so doesn't lock you out of... whatever it is. Assuming it's not a bug.)
Unfortunately I have no idea what causes it beyond the fact that it happened when I was going through the Corridor of Blood a lot (very early in the game.)
