These seem to be tied to achievements for non backers, I just did the achievements for Xelpud's Wig, Visiting the shop 40 times, and pepper harrassment after seeing people talk about the posibilty of them being tied to achievements. I doubt it was those achievements specifically, could be a certain number of them though? Because I checked them all before doing some of the easier achievements. then after doing the ones listed, the chest in Gate of the Dead was just open.

TLDR: If you're not a backer, knock out them achievements.

Don't know if other costumes have special ones, but the idle animation for this one has Lumisa lean forward and the wings start flapping.

Did all those achievements, but unlike the one in the C****n, it remains locked. So it could just be the number of achievements, which would be pretty interesting.

However, then again, you don't have the one I have and are way further in the game. :O

I managed to find out that I had the ability to unlock this one while bumbling around during a particularly late part of the game.
It's my favorite costume. It's based on Baphomet, one of the bosses from the first game. Who, for some reason, also happens to be an NPC in Heaven's Labyrinth.

My guess is that the Baphomet in the first game was either not really Baphomet, or another reproduction of the original, like many of the enemies in the first game turned out to be.

That being said, we need to sort out what achievements unlock chests, and for that matter, if they just unlock them or give you skeleton keys.

I was a backer but didn't activate my key yet. And I managed ot open 3 chests without my back key so far. I have all the achievements but one (Glossary related).

Yeah probably Baphomet isn't really a particular character but a religious position, as she is referred to as "the Priest" in a tablet in Heaven's Labyrinth.
