When that happened to me for the first time, I thought it was some sort of weird secret that was part of unlocking La-Mulana 2's Hell Temple equivalent or something. (Maybe it will be when that's implemented!)

Since if I understand right, it would actually let you enter places you couldn't otherwise - narrow crouch-sized corridors that require jumping to reach.

And the effect is so weirdly specific (down to not being able to attack) that it's hard to believe it's happening entirely as a result of a glitch.
