Question about the 'One arm' and 'One Finger' achievements
Just beat the game a few days ago, figure it's about time to crank out the 100% achivements. So for these achievements can I use sub weapons on anything that isn't a boss or am I just not allowed to use any sub weapons whatsoever?

You can use subweapons on anything that isn't a guardian (Ankh jewel bosses). I'm not sure if you can use subweapons on the final boss but I'd be suprised if you can.

Any offensive subweapon cannot be used at all, even if it misses. This means you cannot use caltrops on yourself for mercy invincibility.

You can use shields.

I don't know about using Ankh jewels *during* the fight itself (they're categorized as subweapons even though they're obviously meant to be usable items). I assume that wouldn't count against you, but I wouldn't risk it seeing how there's no point.

You can use an Ankh Jewel. I accidently used one fighting Echidna and still got the achievement at the end of the game.

The 9th Child is considered a boss, so no you cannot use your subweapons against it.
As in the last game, it only counts it if you do damage with the subweapon. Thus, you can use your shield, or damage yourself with caltrops for iframes.

You're not very lucky, bosses got buffed really hard in the last week or two; I was able to get that achievement out of the way when the game balance was really off.

Not true. In this game just as in the last game you don't get the achievement if you use any offensive sub-weapons during a guardian fight at all, no matter what they hit and even if they don't hit anything at all. So no, no caltrop damage abuse possible.
