So its not been a smooth start thats for sure lots of bugs to work through and big game mechanic changes.. and a wipe that has just happened.
Saying that things do really seem to be moving in the right direction with the new clan servers.
I would only suggest getting the game if you are happy with a game in early development and all the issues that come along with it.
I dont care if its an ark re skin or whatever it just seems the gaming community has gotten so toxic in recent years everyone just seems to live to hate and expects to get everything for nothing and wants it yesterday.
The game has a long way to go but has tons of potential so might as well snap it up while its cheap, even if you save it for later on when its more polished.
But for me the game was always fun, i expected delays, and downtimes, and crashes and lags. I even knew there would be griefing players who's greatest joy is to find every little thing that you can do in this game to spoil someone elses fun. But that is what early access is for, to give the players the possibility to do every possible bit of damage and stretch rules, software and hardware beyond their limit so all these issues can be identified and dealt with. And that is exactly whats happening here.
Things have very much improved since the start, and today Atlas is more fun for me than in all the months before. Shipbuilding is faster, and the creative challenge seems to be bigger now than the material gathering grind. You can finally gather water from water spouts which does wonders for your survivability. Farming makes a lot more sense, the underwater world is much more interesting and challenging now. ( They added a SUBMARINE, i want mine yellow ) The new claiming rules are allowing more people to build their homes, but don't to expect to own your own island when you are going solo or duo. But you WILL find a place to build on.
And i have hope for alle the things that are still coming. ( To the devs, there is a simple bed right now, and ... it really LOOKS simple, can we have complex bed soon? PLEASE )
I like it, Atlas is definately better than the reviews show.
Hopefully that should now be sorted on the new clan servers :)
Well guys I think all of you will be happy to read this. With the rise to fame of the Epic Store Steam has put this out.
https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/
Large AAA developer Ubisoft has left Steam and taken their new releases with them. The Division 2 and Annos 18000 to name a few will not be on Steam. Annos will though be on Steam for Launch day. After that the store page will be gone.
This is a great day for all of us that rely on reviews to be honeest and on topic. Not some crap post about developers or one word crap meant to kill the score causing people to click off the game as fast as they clicked on it. We all know you see Mostly Negative in the review score you are unlikely to read many of them. For Atlas that is a bit unfair as GS has worked hard to change things.
EA is not an excuse. Plenty of other EA games have been made that started stellar with reviews and stayed stellar. Atlas has remained at ~35% since its launch.
Reason being, the developers of Ark knew they could milk the formula of the game, so they made a sister company, copypasta'd code into a pirate theme and resold it.
Atlas is a boring joke. Most streamers spend their time RPing in the game because there simply isn't anything else to do.
